Following a lead from one of the other posted letters here, I saw a game called Steamroller for the ColecoVision- oddly enough, it was at an Intellivision website.
Apparently, it was programmed by someone at Activision just before the needless American Video Game Crash of 1984.
If it's for real and it's half as good as it looks, then it proves that, in the hands of a good programmer, the ColecoVision was truly capable of giving the gamer an arcade experience. It made me feel 17 years younger just looking at it!
Thanks, everybody, for making this such a great website!

It was programmed by the same guy who made Beamrider. I bought the game and, like I said before, it shows that this a last generation game for the Coleco because it's so well made. I actually couldn't believe Coleco could push such power before seeing this game. You can tell by looking at the game that the programmer knew the tricks to push the power of the Coleco to a maximum!

Blade-
Thanks for confirming the fact that Steamroller is a real game; I will order a copy at the earliest opportunity, when they become available again.
What I meant about "odd" is the fact that the Intellivision, like the ColecoVision, is no longer supported by its parent company; this happened in 1984. The folks behind that other website are simply nice enough to include updates on other systems, even though the website is mainly about Intellivision. I have been to other ColecoVision websites showing new games, but that Intellivision website is the one with Steamroller.
Wouldn't it be great if that programmer decided to do a new adventure game? It would be even better than the terrific Alcazar!

Steamroller is a real game. And it's not "odd" that it's on the Intellivision website. After all, if Coleco won't support Colecovision anymore, maybe the guys at Intellivision can...
