Update causing problems with 1080p users

It seems the new 1.8 update is causing problems when trying to watch a Blu-Ray movie on a 1080p display. My brotherinlaw says he can hear the sound but gets no picture. I have read of similar problems at the official PS3 forums. I will post a fix to this problem if there is one.

I didn't here this, I dont have any blue ray movies except for the one that came with the ps3. I remember hearing about a new format or something of blue ray discs, could this be why they are not working?

No problems with my PS3 running at 1080p on 1.8 (yet)

Well there is a fix for this if it does happen to you. Setting the BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI) setting to "off" within the BD/DVD Settings section" will fix the problem.
