I heard from a couple of people that there is a control that you can buy that has all of the NES games on it. All you have to do is plug it into your tv and you can play any game you want. I also heard that it costs about $50. If anyone else knows anything about this, let me know.

Hmmmm.....I haven't seen that. I know there was a replica Atari 2600 joystick controller which has about 20 games in a self contained unit you hook up to your TV. It is priced around 50 bucks. Could it possibly be this that they are talking about?

:?: :? :?: Is this Game controller approved by Nintendo? You know, is it their product?
I have seen one such product at the local mall. It had Nintendo games, but the names were changed and the graphics altered. And alot of the games were labeled badly. Mappy was labeled Pac-Man. It was NOT a Nintendo product. And the last thing I saw when playing it was the lack of any copyright notices. :x

I have never heard of a Nintendo product like this but I know that a few companies are doing this and they are all around $25
The Nintendo one is probably one of those unlicensed 3rd party things but it would be interesting to see it.
Atari has their Joystick with 10 games on it.

Namco has also released one with 5 games on it.

Activision also has one with 10 games:

You failed to mention that there is an Intellivision controller game collection, too: http://www.intellivisionlives.com/retrotopia/direct2tv.shtml
There is also a Spongebob SquarePants controller which contains 5 games:
http://www.jakkstvgames.com/spongebob.html
By the way, the Nintendo games you are talking about is most likely the Power Player Super Joy3. It contains 100+ built in games: http://64.33.43.74/power_player.html
It might be the one I saw at the mall. Or I saw something similar to it.
There is also a Pika Boy 2 game system! It is a PokeMon PS ONE type game system: http://www.411toys.com/pikaboy.html
So Pikachu now has is own PlayStation type game system!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gaming Guru, I think it would be GREAT for Nintendo to release their own NES collection on such a device! What should it look like? What do you think? :D
I also want to see a ColecoVision collection on such a device! I sense a trend starting in videogaming!

BTW, How (or can) you play 2 player games like combat with the Atari controller? Or does it only feature 1 player games?

:D Cool! The NES light gun is missing though. Would it plug into the NES All In One Multi-Player adapter? I imagine that Nintendo would put in the light gun with it for playing games like Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Gumshoe.
I also have a thought: give Nintendo the idea and maybe this fantasy will become a reality one day! :D I would love to see a real NES All In One system!!! :D
Gaming guru
03-03-2004, 12:11 PM
yeah, i suppose that any number of NES adapter things could be made to go with it, like the light gun, perhaps even ROB?
hey, thats an idea, perhaps ROB can be on the screen talking you though everything!
johnlmooney
03-04-2004, 01:56 PM
Great idea! I can just imagine seeing ROB on a television screen right now with the NES All In One! :) I also have an idea for you: maybe Gyromite and Stack Up can be reworked to where ROB is operated on the screen. Imagine pushing start and the screen rolls into another screen. It would be similar to the 2 screens of Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!
Oh yeah, in case any of you don't know this: ROB stands for Robotic Operating Buddy.
I have one but the arms need to be fixed. They move on there own freely which means that something inside is broke. I wonder if Nintendo can have it fixed? :(
Gaming guru
03-04-2004, 03:40 PM
i would imagine that if you asked them nicely good ol' ninty would fix it for ya.
johnlmooney
03-04-2004, 11:10 PM
Cool! I'll do that when I know I have some money to spend on fixing good ol' ROB.
Here is something to check out. Nintendo ROB history:
http://www.vidgame.net/NINTENDO/rob.htm
The Japanese version of ROB is pictured. He is known as Family Computer ROBOT in Japan. I think it would be cool to see ROB make a comeback on a NES All In One system or on a new system with a new look and new features. When I got my first NES in the late '80s, ROB came with it. I had fun playing it on my NES for hours. Ahh the memories. :)
Gaming guru
03-05-2004, 11:45 AM
hhmm.. this is all a little off topic, but hey, this is an interesting conversation! ROB would be in the corner of the screen, and perhaps you could press a button to 'summon' him up. that would just be coolio! aahh.. the possibilities...

I am listening to "Retro Gaming Radio" and they have a segment of the show about these types of TV-Controllers and the host is going on a big rant about them not being "exactly" like the arcade version even when the box says so...
There was also talk about a Capcom version too...

I know this is a little off topic, but I just wanted you to know this. I e-mailed Nintendo. I asked for repair of my ROB, unfortunitly Nintendo cannot repair it since it is a very old item. :x This means that I need to get me another one. I'll probably keep the broken one around for display only.
Back on topic. I liked listening to that, Froggerman! I totally agree that man. Alot of these companies are ripping people off by promising real arcade games in these plug and play videogame controllers when the games are not the real deal. I think it is sad. I would love to play some of those arcade games again. But hey, I am happy and content with my Nintendo NES and my Gamecube. I will say that these companies had better watch out. If they flood the market with inferior products, like Atari did back in the early '80s, then people will catch on and quit buying their stuff. Remember the Crash of 1984?
Thank God for Nintendo! They saved the videogame industry. Everyone said videogames were a fad and Nintendo proved them wrong.
Well, after listening to that, it gave me alot to think about and write about.
Thanks Froggerman! :D

John, Have you tried to take your ROB apart to specifically see what is wrong with it? It might be a simple fix.
Gaming guru
03-15-2004, 02:46 PM
yeah, it might just be a case of a loose.. somethingorother...
johnlmooney
03-15-2004, 03:07 PM
I did take it apart and nothing was loose nor did I find any broke plastic. I think it is the electronic motor itself. See, the problem is that its arms move freely to the left and right, which it is not supposed to do. When I played Gyromite, I tested it, by commanding ROB to move its arms which it wouldn't (or couldn't) do. I think that somebody who owned it before me, like a kid perhaps, forced its arms to move, thus breaking it. I got this at an antique store. I will take it apart again and name the motor to you. Perhaps somebody might know where I could get a replacement?
imported_Anonymous
03-15-2004, 03:15 PM
It would depend on what motor it is. Alot of times the motor in't burned out, but just has a loose wire or need its brushes cleaned or replaced. Sometimes you can coax them into working again by spinning them with your hand while power is supplied. You might find a suitable replacement at radio shack or some other electronics store.
imported_Anonymous
03-15-2004, 03:17 PM
Also you said the arms move freely which it isn't supposed to do. I don't have a ROB, but I would think if you check the gears, maybe one is misalighned and or jammed.
johnlmooney
03-15-2004, 03:20 PM
OK. I'll try that. Once I find out what type the motor is, I let you guys know. I would love to get ROB working again. Does any of you own a ROB?

Gaming Guru and Anntiques: I have opened up the Nintendo ROB. I posted the results in the Nintendo thread titled "Nintendo ROB troubleshooting attempt." Look in it and comment on it please.
Back on topic:
I have a wild idea. How about the Nintendo ROB being re-released as a self contained game system! He could have all the roms inside of him and the controllers can hook up to it and ROB can be hooked up to the TV! I can imagine that it would be called the "Nintendo Robotic Operating Buddy NES All In One!" Wouldn't that be a very different looking game system! :D

Saw you guys talking about spongebob squarepants before.
More about spongebob squarepants trend(s) (http://trendwatcher.koan.net/node/329)
This is really interesting, looks like a graph over time of the number of times " spongebob squarepants " has been mentioned, it does this by graphing the results in google yahoo etc, very interesting, you can see just how popular spongebob squarepants is becoming

There is a NES all in one controller called the Power Player, but it was not legit. Nintendo sued them over it and they had to pull it off the shelf. It would be nice if Nintendo released an official one!
imported_Anonymous
06-15-2005, 01:49 PM
Very true, if Nintendo released their version of Power Play controller then it would be very good for them. Nintendo would make major bucks of this. I would buy 3 of those damn things to show my like for the old classics.
johnlmooney
06-16-2005, 01:45 AM
Very true! I would buy more than three of them! I hope Nintendo does release such a device!
I got to play the Power Player at my local mall. The games are good. But I knew right away that it wasn't going to last. First of all, the games were missing copyrights! And some of the games were Famicom imports. Some of those games like Front Line were never released for the NES. I got to play the Famicom version of Space Invaders. Pac-Man was definitly the Japanese version since the monsters names were differant. Not the names we are used to here in America: Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. And to top all of that, I saw one game being listed as Pac-Man when it is actually Mappy with altered character sprites. :? Pac-Man was listed more than once on the Power Player. It was a real mixed bag of a turkey. The controls were poor compared to the NES or some other legit system.
The Power Player itself is comprised of a Nintendo 64 controller with a dummy analog stick, a Sega Genesis controller :? , and a light gun.

You've been a controller with NES games loaded in yourself?
There was a power play kiosk at my mall. I took a picture of it once and they started asking me all these questions, why I was taking the picture, what i was going to do with it. Then they tried to steal my camera. No joke ;_;
Thoes machines are very illegal.
