I am mainly talking about complete sets for NES games. I have noticed that if you go to sell games, the price is a lot higher if you have the instruction booklet, the box, and everything else that came inside the box. Do you guys feel that it's really worth it to collect all of this stuff? Just asking what everyone thinks.

It all depends on what your favorite games is. It isn't worth it to get a complete set of every game, but some games are just too cool to not have a complete set. Most of my NES games are game paks-most with the black sleeves. I do have some complete sets. Here is a few games that I think people should have complete sets of:

Super Mario Bros. 3
The Legend Of Zelda ( for obvious reasons: the map and the instruction manual.)
Mega Man games
Any game that is your favorite with cool box artwork and poster.

But the most important factor in playing NES games is FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get my point?

At first I wasn't sure what the question was... I thought it was the pros and cons of buying a lot of games+system or buy the system and additional individual games.

I don't know why I thought that... Come to think of it I was being distracted so I probably messed something up in the interpretation...

Anyways... I guess it depends on what you want to do... If you are a collector and you like your games in their box with all the goodies (instructions, maps, etc.) then that is an option...

If all you want to do is play the game and have some fun reliving the days of yesteryear then the cartridge only is fine and maybe you can pick up the instructions in PDF format or plain text online.

It also depends on what game you are buying.

If it is Final Fantasy, Megaman, etc. you are going to pay a lot for the box, instructions, maps, etc.

Unfortunatly by parents threw out most of my boxes and some of my instruction manuals. :(

The only boxed NES games I have now are Bionic Commando, Days of Thunder, Bomberman, Battle-chess, Super Team Games, and Paperboy 2.

I guess it all depends on how much you want to spend and if you are a collector or not... A lot of people are content to relive their childhood memories with a cartridge while others like to have the complete set.

It also depends on how fat your wallet is. Like any collectable, buying something with all the original packaging will add to the overall price. Lots of collectors(of anything) will buy and sell to work their wayup to acquire that mint-in-box item they've always wanted. The lesson is to save all the packaging from the stuff you're buying now, because if/when the time comes where you want to sell it, you'll likely get alot more for it. It's not always easy or practical to do this, I know. I wish I had kept/took care of alot of toys I had when I was a kid. Think back to the toys you had when you were a kid. Then look them up on eBay. If the toy is more than 20 years old, chances are it will be collectable, and the ones getting the highest bids will be the ones still in the box.

well it definatly just depends on your style if your like me... then your a thrifty fella and you wouldnt want to spend all your money on a instruction booklet and a box when al you need is the cartridge to paly.

but then again some people like to roll a little higher that myself and if you do power to ya but a little advice if you got the money to spend and are looking for an investment i think that it might be wise to purchase some of the more famous games such as the mario brothers, the legend of zelda, or the mega man collection because these games are getting more and more expensive and if oyu cna get them in good conditoin and keep them in good condition you could make a big profit. like say imagine this we all grew up playing original nes and most of us still prefer it well tink when we are even older and have big carrers making big money and we will want to play what we grew up on and since we will be making big bucks we will be willing to pay big bucks

it's all how you look at it my friend
