Airplanes, jetpacks, bicycles, sprawling mutli-city state to roam... no! Smaller than Liberty City... yes! Rockstar North is shooting for quality over quantity in this one. There is no continuity from the prior GTA's to this one... new story, characters, everything. Meet Niko Bellic. He's the Eastern European import that you'll be playing as for the next several hours. After being lured to Algonquin (GTA's name for Manhattan) by his cousin under false pretenses he finds himself having his own problems. This map, although smaller than Liberty City, will contain Bohan (The Bronx), Dukes (Queens), Broker (Brooklyn), and suburban Alderny (North Jersey), all connected to a central hub by bridges. Although square mileage is down the scale and detail will be much improved. Cigarettes, cell phones, seagulls... all these tiny new details will make the new GTA feel like a more realistic living, breathing game. Many changes will take place over the previous games. Now you'll be able to whip out your cell phone at any time for new missions when you want. After you initially load the game you'll never see another loading screen again. Cars will have more realistic damage modeling. The cop/wanted system will see an overhaul. Yes, Multiplayer! The pedestrians will be unique and do different things. No more mindless zombies. I'm excited to see what Rockstar can do to top Saints Row. October 16th, where you at?
