The original Tomb Raider released back in 1996 on the Sony Playstation. The game became one of the PS1's greatest games made on that console. For years Tomb Raider fans wanted their beloved game remade with up to date graphics. Well 11 years later the remake has finally been released. Unfortunately its not the remake I feel all of were hoping for. There are times when you dont even recognize the game. It seems as if the storyline was kept the same but there have been so many new puzzles added to the game that it just doesnt feel like the classic Tomb Raider. It feels more like Tomb Raider Legend 1.5. Its a bit of a shame too because the first Tomb Raider on the PS1 is the best one of all the TR games made. Here is the lowdown.
Graphics
10/10
This can easily be the best looking PS2 game ever made. The trees, lighting and shadows all look amazing. Sometimes you forget this is a last gen game.
Sound
9/10
All of the old music and sounds have been remastered and simply sound amazing. The sound you hear when you find a secret or the up beat tempo when a lion or a bear is chasing you.
Value
8.5/10
The game offers alot of new puzzles that will keep you playing longer than the original. The enemies are much tougher this time round.
Overall
9/10
This is still a great game even though its not an exact copy of the original. The game is much better than Legend which is saying alot! The best remade memory of this title is the giant T-Rex. Thats my favorite part of this game.
