Hey guys,

I'm seriosly considering modding my 360.

I want to get rid of the tin plate inside it and replace the fans with some whisper fans.

I've got some questions:
1. What tools do you need to open the 360?
2. To replace the fans do you just unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones, how do you do it?

Hopefully I wont get the 3 red lights.

You will need a few tools to open your case. First one being a few small flat head screw driver. You will also need a torque wrench set. There are 2 sizes that you need. I dont know off the top of my head what sizes they are. The fans just plug in and out and the tin shield comes off by pulling up on it.

When I opened one up I only used one torque wrench and I believe it was an 8

there are several online places to get a tool that fits the 360 perfectly... I have one here actually. The torx is a #10, and here's a pic I just took of the opening tool.

first of all its a torx wrench a Torque wrench is Entirely different this is a Torx wrench http://images.google.com/images?um=1&tab=wi&hl=en&q=torx%20wrench
you could buy it at any local hardware store homedepot in the Us. and you would need a small jewelers screwdriver, or the tool like f34r showed

Why not flash the drive while your at it?
I plan on flashing mine sometime this summer.
Opening it up is the hardest part as far as i can see. :)

Becuase I've not got a computer that can do it. Does anyone have a really good and helpful video tutorial on opening the 360 becuase I can't find anyone on YouTube or anywhere.

I've got one of those Torx Wrench with loads of torx screwdrivers on it.

So it's a torx wrench, jewelers screwdriver, what else.

Also if you do have the right torx screw drivers..

they are here:

This will allow you to open anything to do with the 360 i do believe..

Not sure though

I also think that screw driver they give you will let you open your 360 from the back clips also..

And dont flash your drive ill kill you, cuz then we cant play on live lol

Great, thanks Lethal.

How hard is it to install LED's?

I use cathodes so you dont add any extra heat. Its actually quite simple. I have a tut on how to do it in the Xbox 360 section.

Why do you want to mod it? Just to add fans? Is it worth voiding your warranty? Why add LED's? Are you adding windows? Just Wonderin...

For me, I'd rather upgrade my cooling in the 360, and not have to worry about using the warranty. I already have a whisper, but the connector is different for the Elite 360, vs. the white ones. I have to either wait for an adapter, or sell this one. Talismoon is making a new one that is compatible with both configs.

I agree. Screw the warranty. If you mod the cooling then you wont need to worry about the warranty.

lol ya but at least he has the balls to try and mod it :). Modding cases for the first time is kind of like poker. Your going to lose money before you start making it. Unless you are like me and just good at every single thing I do lmao!

Yeah, screw the warranty if I upgrade the cooling system nothing should go wrong with it.
