Help/Advice needed on a S Type XBOX Controller.

I've got a S Type official MS XBOX Controller.

The wire's all twisted and the controller doesn't work most of the time but sometimes, occasionally it does.

What can i do to get it working and the wire un-twisted?

So, the best description you can give of something being twisted, is "twisted like hell" ?

Sorry but that doesnt help. Have you tried "twisting" the wires the other way ?

I've had a few controllers show no connection when plugged in, so I deemed them dead.

I've tried twisting them the other way. And they still don't work.
