Interesting story. I wonder who'll get involved if this runs rampart. A new Dark Alex perhaps?
Yes, you're reading the headline correctly, the PlayStation 3's firmware has been cracked. And what exploits can this bring? Well, the most notorious of them all, playing pirated games. But whoah, whoah, hold on there, skipper. You see, unlike the PSP where firmware updates didn't really offer too much, the PS3 is a completely different beast. Read more.. Totally worth it. Blu-ray Media will drop in prices as always. Can't afford it still? Well get a bigger HDD and play from there. ;)

First, the firmware has not been cracked. There was a leak of the $DK for the PS3. After that an exploit was found in the XMB on certain firmware versions (1.00 to 1.11). The exploit allows back-up media to BOOT, but not run at this time.
