ooks like Sony has a slight problem in their hands. Recently, they admitted that their pride and joy which recently launched in Japan, has problems running about 200 PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 software titles.

Apparently, some audio features do not work on some software titles when played on the PS3 and there are those that won't really play at all. We earlier reported about a PS3 Backwards Compatibility status list, and at least Sony is admitting the problem now and doing something about it.

But don't think that the PS3 is already doomed after this scenario as this is not the first time that minor hiccups were experienced during launch. If you could recall, when the Xbox graced the Japanese market in 2002, there are some who complained that the console was scratching game discs. And way, way back in 2000 during the PS2's release, it also had compatibility problems with PS1 games. However, what's terrifying to think is that this could become a standard operating procedure and that the people who lined up in the streets or pre-ordered their consoles are not getting their end of the bargain.

So now that Sony recognized that glitch, what would they do now? Sony Computer Entertainment plans to fix this issue by offering online upgrades for the system software. This was mentioned by SCE spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka. Well, they have a whole lotta work waiting for them as Sony reportedly sold 88,400 PS3 units in the first two days of the Japan launch. Let the work begin and hopefully, this problem won't be experienced by North American gamers come Friday and by European gamers when March 2007 kicks in.

Thats not really a big problem. When I saw the title of this thread I expected to hear about overheating, and generally the consoles just not working. At least they can use software updates to resolve the problem.

psp will work as a wireless controller I believe. And I can't imagine that you can't play music/pics and videos off of your psp via usb..

That's not a bad glitch at all. At least it's something that can be resolved by an update. The stystems aren't heating and blwing up. That would be funny if they are just like those batteries that Sony made for Dell that caught on fire.

i thought the PS3 was going to have overheating problems? Aren't they using the fan from the PS2?

Sony has learned their lesson when they lost tens of millions of dollars in psp profits from piracy so I don't believe a word they say anymore. I'm seriously convinced that they were aware of their minor PS3 glitches and the only quick solution they come to is a software update, which is fine by all of us but what I want to know is what are the major differences from 1.0 to 1.02? As far as we're all concerned is that 1.0 could be the holy grail just like 1.5 on a psp.

Maybe I'm digressing but don't forget that sony is globalist corporation with a pure top dollar profit ideology. Think about it. It would be so easy for them to release highly anticipated titles only so you would also have to update every so often. Don't get me wrong, I'm buying one in the next couple of weeks but like I mentioned before in that IGN review, the guy had to update upon inserting the very first game. Doesn't anyone think that's borderline fishy?
