While Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were competing in categories such as “who can stuff more memory and processors per square centimeterâ€, Nintendo bet on the human factor and instead of concentrating on graphics and processor power, it reinvented the magic wand, creating a wireless controller which allows gamers to make any kind of movements they desire while playing.

It goes to show that gameplay is more important that graphics! (didn't read the article either but it's gotta be somewhere along those lines, right!?)

I think the Wii had a very good gameplan. They lowerd the price and got more systems out and didnt worry much on graphics, just over all gameplay and fun. They also came up with new fun ideas like Wiisports and the Mii Channel. The PS3 is always just showcasing its "awesome" graphics and power, I predict and hope the Wii wins the next gen war.

Yeah, everyone I talk to think that its all about graphics and power, and then we get in a debate of whether or not that is true. No one believes that Wii is just as good and probably alot funner.

wii is a nice system no doubt. But realy graphics will matter for the 3rd party games in the future.Look at tony hawks for example Activison just shoved a realy poor looking cartoony gimmick game in downhill jam for the wii becuase they couldnt get the PS3 and 360 version running on the wii at all. As long as nintendo keep producing those great games than the system will be fine but if ninty screws there games up then the 3rd party games imo will be dissapointing

Wow, you're so wrong, it's not even funny. Downhill Jam has a cartoony look ONLY for the boarders, the rest looks realistic. The reason, is EA already said none of their Wii games were going to be cheap ports. Look at RE4, it looked better on the GameCube then the PS2, the Wii is brand new, it's not just a GCN with a funky controller, the Wii has all new processors, and the graphics can be better. Zelda, was originally supposed to be a GCN game, that's why the graphics aren't that "amazing." The games will look better, and graphics are not that important.
When video games started, do you really think people cared how graphically powerful their systems were? If it was fun, people played it! The Wii is the most user friendly console there is, and it's for people who want to have fun and feel immersive into the game, not sit there and watch TV while pressing buttons. It looks better, maybe, but if the game blows, why would that matter?
Look at Wii's innovation side, the graphics will get better, just like any other system, but people need to realise that the console isn't oriented for pure power, more for pure fun. Wii has variety in games, XBOX and PS2 are racing and shooting games for the majority. No classic platformers, nothing that you could just jump right into and have a little fun. Sure, they have their exceptions [a la Viva Pinata] but really, nobody's going to just jump right into Halo and have the time of their lives.
People who care about nothing more than graphics, really have no sense of what makes a game. I really wouldn't care if the game looked great, I mean, look at Sonic Heros, the game looks great, but it's boring as hell!
Wii is not just a game console, not just a media console, it's fun for everyone, not aimed at the hardcore audience.

well said keno, i totally agree with your points of view. i have also experienced this with the whole psp vs ds thing, while i like the psp for movies and....movies, the games just flat out suck, and i end up playing my ds most of the time because of the fun, innovative way of playing them
