PATA PATA PATA PON

Heres my review for Patapon, a new PSP game. That has the once great patapon tribe, rebuild themselves from the ground up with the help of you, the "Almighty". You face towering monsters, wild animals , the enemy tribe named the "Zigatons" and some of the most addictinve gameplay ever!

Lets start off with the graphics, this game has an extremely quirky charm to it. It looks very much like Loco Roco. The visuals are ALWAY crisp and refreshing and you never find youself thinking "Damn, this setting is getting soooo old."

This game's controls are very original. Square make the sound "Pata" while the circle make the sound "Pon".Later in the game you also get to use the triangle with the "Chaka" Noise and finnaly "Don" to the X button. By making different combinations of Pon Pata Chaka and Don, you instruct your troops to do anything ranging from advance, attack, defend, or charge. If you can manage to string together 10 four beat sequences you go into "Frenzy" mode. eveyone attack faster, damage doubles and your enemies and enviroment act differently.

There a 6 different types of patapon to use at your disposal. Warriors, who are alyways at the front lines with shields and axes, swords or sticks. Spearmen who throw speas for major damage. Arches who fire arrors from behind the front lines. Knights who ride horses and use longswords and javelins to break the enemy's front lines.Tuba Players who use music to assault the enemy. And finnaly what I call brutes who are hulking beasts that have nothing but a club they can clear out and entire army.

With all of these classes come vast custimazations options ranging from sheilds, axes, swords, bows, spears, clubs, tubas, and helmets.

To "Birth" a Patapon you need to collect the assorted materials to make it, better materials mean the higher class the patapon is.

Final Verdict:

Graphics: 8/10 ~ I think this is the best kind of art style for this light-hearted game.

Sound: 9/10 ~ This game music depends on YOU, the tune of the game changes with every PATA or PON you strike.

Gameplay 11/10 ~ It goes above and beyond offering a new, innovative way to command troops, an extremely thurough customization option, a reason to keep playing after you beat it, and a crapload of Minigames to trade up to better equips.

Go Buy It Now.
