Resident Evil 4 Review
K well here is my review for Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. So let's get started.
As the fourth installment of the legendary survival-horror series it had a lot of expectations and it exceeded all of them. Although straying a little off the path that its predecessors had created, Resident Evil 4 definately feels like a Resident Evil game and it even may be the best in the series. Capcom have tossed away the fixed camera angle perspective all previous Resident Evil games have had and now it is an over the shoulder type of first person camera angle. At first i was a bit sceptical about this new camera system but it all works in well with the game and it improves the game dramatically. Also another BIG change is the story wich i was also fearful of. Now instead of focusing on the Umberella Corporation the game revolves around the President's Daughter being kidnapped by a religous cult group who call themselves the 'los illuminatos'. There are no zombies in this Resident Evil wich is another big change to the series. The enemies now are villagers called Ganados who are infested with the parasite 'Las Plagas'. The combat system is great as well. You have a reticule you move around the screen with the Wii-Mote so you can aim. When holding down the B button it goes into what I call combat mode where you can aim around and press A to shoot your weapon. The way the enemies clutch their body parts or fall to the ground depending on where you shoot them is a great addition as well. The graphics could be a little bit better even though it is a port from the Gamecube. There are also a number of additional game modes; Assignment Ada, Seperate Ways and a minigame 'The Mercenaries'. Assignment Ada is basically chapter 5 but playing as Ada. Your main objective here is to collect 5 Plaga samples and leave the area. It is a lot of fun and a bit of a change to the regular story. You must beat the game once on any difficulty to unlock any of these modes. Seperate ways is another game mode where you play as Ada. In this mode you play through the main story mostly helping Leon. In this mode it really adds to the story and you get to see Ada's perspective as well as Leon's throughout the game. The Mercenaries is a minigame where you you have a time limit and limited resources. You have to get a 30,000+ score in the time limit to unlock a new character and 60,000+ points to get a five star rating. Get a five star rating with all characters on all levels to unlock a special weapon. There is also a movie browser to view the cutscenes you saw throughout the entire game on all the modes.
Overall I give this game a 9.5 out of ten. There are just a few problems in the game like the graphics, Professional mode being a bit too easy and some other stuff about bosses that would be spoilers :P
Tell me what you think about this review, I would love some feedback on what I can improve on or how well i've done. This was one of my first ever reviews on a video game thought i would post it on these forums to see what you all think :)
