Hi all-
Just got a DS lite for my daughter (8) and my son is getting one soon (6).
What are good games for kids their age?
Thanks!

Well there are not many games that are unsuitable for kids on the DS.
I imagine your daughter and perhaps even your son would enjoy Nintendogs where you care for a puppy and interact using the touch screen and the microphone.
Mario Kart DS would be good racing game to get for them, there aren't any other good racers to compete with it on the DS.
Super Mario 64 DS is a great game that includes many fun mini-games that get unlocked through progressing in the main game.
Wario Ware Touched! is a fantastic collection of over 200 short mini-games, very fun to play and utilises the touch screen very well.
go here to find loads of DS game reviews, you can sort them by name, genre and score:

Supermario 64 DS
Mario Kart
New Super Mario Bros
Metroid Prime Hunters (I think it would be appropriate)
Meteos

Do you really think that a 6 year could understand the controls for MPH, and would be able to understand how to play meteos?

Thanks...it would have made sense if I told you that we already have Nintendogs...we also have Little Mermaid and Yoshii's Island (although they don't seem to into that one). We're adding Nicktoons Volcano Island, and a couple of the girly games like Raven and Hannah Montana.
Nintendogs has been getting most of the play so far.
I think Mario Kart is a logical next game.
I check out IGN for all reviews, but I don't always agree with them. I trust the opinion of gamers on here more.
And regarding his ability to play, he's got great hand-eye coordination. While I haven't seen the game and will check out a review, he can play medium songs on Guitar Hero 2, he beats most adults at DDR and has just started to learn NCAA Football '07 on PS2.
Edit: I took a look at the Meteos write-up quickly. I'm sure it's harder than it sounds, but he plays similar puzzle games on the computer. He's playing Luxor right now on the PSP with no trouble.

Then he probably could play Meteos. Definently get him Mario Kart. I know a kid who is 5 and he plays Mario Kart DS all the time.

Meteos is a pretty simple game, it's fun too. Another game that my little brothers like is New Super mario brothers and mario kart. They are 6 and 8 years old, they play ALOT of video games lol. Elite beat agents is another fun game, you might want to look up some gameplay videos and see if you think they could get into it. Hmm.. maybe Brain Age?

Get them both wario ware touched. period. I let my friend borrow my ds + that game for a while and her grandparents run a day care and she said that the day care kids (between 3 and 7) all absolutely loved the game.

Definitely Super Mario 64 DS. They would probably love the mini-games. Maybe you could consider some GBA games, they work in DS, and some of them are still pretty good. My 7 year old cousin plays Super Mario Advance... its an older game for Game Boy Advance but he loves it. :)
I don't know if it might be to advanced(sorry if I offended you), but I'm sure your children would love Animal Crossing Wild World. It is an excellent game.
