Surprisingly Nintendo’s Mario Strikers Charged uses the term “football” while FIFA 08 uses “soccer”. Anyway on to more important things. Mario Strikers Charged is an extremely fun and competitive game, that uses all of the Wii’s capabilities. The nunchuk is used to move your player while the controller is used for shooting, tackling, etc. When played with friends, your all basically defending the one who has the ball while he/she holds down the B button to get as many shots as possible. If your on the receiving end of this, watch out because your going to have to block a barrage of shots. It’s tough but with a little luck and speed, its possible to block them all. One thing you have to be careful of is tackling an opposing player that doesn’t have the ball. If you do this, you’ll give them an item that can be used against you. I didn’t know that when I first played, which explains why I was always getting bombarded with shells and bombs. It’s an exciting game, especially when played with a group of friends, which I strongly recommend.
Mario Strikers can also be played online which is fun, you can test your skill against someone instead of just playing Ai. When you play in a tournament, whether by yourself, or with others, be careful, because although it may see easy at first, as you progress the computer becomes really hard. You’ll be wishing for just five seconds of freedom, where you can hold down that B button to get just three shots in. There are a variety of players to choose from for your line-up. The one known as Buzzy Beetle is a rather large, shell covered character, who moves quite slow, this guy is best used for defense. My personal favorite is Koopa Troopa. He is the fastest character in the game, which allows for evasive action to avoid tackles. Mario Strikers Charged is fun, and intense, and I recommend it, especially for a group of people looking for a competitive game.
