Looks better than Halo 3!

Looks better than Halo 3!

Well, the Halo franchise isnt exactly the most cutting edge in graphic terms :P

But Killzones lookin sweeeet :)
Apparantly the lighting in that screenshot is entirely from the muzzle flash of the gun, without it everything would be pitch black. People were complaining that the shadow is pixelated, but when you think about it, a muzzle flash lasts a millisecond, you wouldnt notice a pixelated shadow in the background in that amount of time.

Why does it have to look better than Halo 3 ? I can find a Gears of War screenie that looks better than that.

Well, they are both upcoming games, just wanted to state how good it looks.

Yes, but unlike GoW this game might take you longer than a day to complete.

well, that's completely supposition, and not what this discussion is about at all.

matt_don

Well you brought GoW into the discussion :P

I brought the LOOK of Gears of War into the discussion. Not the gameplay. My comment was completely on the current topic, your comment was not. Try to stay on topic please. It will help continue on with the discussion the original poster intended on. Thanks. ;)

Just to close out the point though, you can't possible know how long KZ2 will take to complete, therefore it's not even a valid discussion, not to mention (again) that it's completely off topic.

As far as the screenie goes, you would think they would have showed something with a little more detail.

Apparently it was leaked, maybe they couldn't get their hands on a better screenie.

Hopefully by tomorrow an in-game video will appear, cos theres a playable demo at the Killzone 2 show in E3 tonight...

if there is a playable demo, there should be a better screenshot that what was posted here. I'd LOVE to play this game. I've only played the PSP Killzone: Lib, and I absolutely thing it's one of the top 3 games on the PSP to date.

How is the gameplay of the first Killzone ? will this be similar ? can someone that has a little more insight into the new game, and compare what they know to the first one ?

I liked the first Killzone, it didnt do as well as many hoped for, but I thought it was one of the best FPS games on the PS2 to be honest.
The PSP Killzone was better though, going by that, I'd like to think Sony know what their doing with the Killzone franchise, and hopefully they can only improve on the PSP version.

Well, isn't Konami developing Killzone, and not Sony ? If it were Sony, the exclusive nature of the game wouldn't even be in doubts.

Also, I just took a look at the full resolution screen-shot of the one posted in the original post. Now I have to say, it isn't even in the same league as Gears of War, and doubtful that it's better than Halo 3.

Here is a link to the full res shot -

Now, that screen-shot may not be representative of what is shown in the demo at E3, so I'm going to save judgment 'till then.
Also the comment about the muzzle flash being the light source in that screen cap, I think is wrong. If you can see the lighting still, you should be able to see the muzzle flash as well.

It looks good, but not GoW or Halo 3 good. But I'll play it. Thanks for the heads up/preview.

Maybe Sony are trying to under-whelm us with a bad screenshot, just to blow us all away with the demo at E3 :D

I'm not a marketing genius or anything in the vicinity of such, but I don't think that would be the way to go lol. Let's see what we get at E3.

^^ What he said.

Its not the general way of things to trick your customers to think media like crap when trying to get them to buy it in the future. The better, more used way is to put out really awesome screenshots, of the fmvs, and then people buy the game, and the gameplay graphics are lacking.

Where did you find that? It looks stretched out.

That's the full res screenshot, it's not stretched. that's how it looks.

Dont judge it till its seen in motion. Screenshots can make anything look bad.

I'll go with you on that one. I guess we can all agree, having seen the full res 720p screen cap, it's not as good as previously stated. Does it look bad ? In my opinion, there isn't anything really going on in that shot to warrant the bad textures and jagged shadow.

I would like to see how it looks while playing. This could be another example of Forza 2. Amazing game-play, sub-par next-gen graphics. I could live with that.

The opening was once again fantastic, but we couldn't help but sit there and think, "When are we finally going to see some in-game footage?" The only thing was that we had been looking at in-game footage.

we couldn't help but think, "Holy hell, all of that was in-game?"

Indeed, it's quickly apparent that Guerilla has come much closer to the original trailer than most anyone thought possible. It's not 100% identical to be sure, but there are times (quite often) when it's really, really damn close.

"If you would like a number to go with that, try 2GB. That's how big the single level was on disc, to which the Guerilla rep noted that the game's level of detail would not have been possible without Blu-ray."

looks like killzone 2 is going to live up the the hype.

Want to see the game for yourself? Head to the PlayStation Network at 3pm PST on Wednesday and you'll find a brand-spanking-new trailer waiting there for you.

I agree but hopefully the PS3 one will kick butt. New games coming out for the PS3 should be a lot better now that companies have had time to work with the system longer and use up all its potential.
