Say if I bought a few XBLA games, would I get a credit of some sort, or would I just have to recover my gamertag and redownload the game(s)??

I believe that you use the HD transfer cable, then all of the crap on your HDD goes to your new HDD. But you have to be signed into Xbox live to be able to play them. so if you take your 360 on vacation or somewhere without internet acess, no XBLA games for you.

I don't know about security updates, but when I get a new 360, all I had to do was recover and re download.

Yeah when I got my new 360, all the games were "accounted for" and all I had to do was recover gamertag, and re-download. Like it has the checkmark, and it says you can just download again.

Say my friends account had a bunch of downloaded XBLA games, could I recover his Gamertag, download all the games he bought, and then play them on my system?

I don't think so. XBLA are tied to your acct.

This is the kind of thing I was talking about! If you could download them using someone elses acc, it may be locked on yours, but that means all you have to do is unlock it, not write a hacked XBLA game for the public to download. Then again, im not a 360 hacker. (Wish I was)

Allright me and my friend tested this on his, if he downloads the game (demo) and he is signed in, it will only show as a demo. but if the gamertag with all the bought games in signed in to XBLA (With an unoptional internet connection) the games will work, but only if signed into XBL. I remember something about M'soft blowing your OS with all the XBLA game rights into your new non-RROL'd Xbox. So easy awnser, yes, if your connected to XBL.

Actually you might be able to do it the same way you do the COD4 Beta glitch.

But since their banning people, could that be the same case?
Id totally give Tvgs for assistance on this. Loan me your acc info, and let me download your games, and try to play them on my Xbl acc. That would be mega tits.

They are tied to the machine. So the original machine you download them on will be able to be played without being signed on to XBL but if you get a new machine you will always have to be signed into XBL for them to be playable as full games.
Not a big deal but shitty none the less. DRM is getting to be ridiculous and its only going to get worse since its so profitable and limits piracy just screws the consumer in the long run.
