499.00 for cheap and crappy one, 599.00 for better one...
$499 for the PS3 with a 20gb hard drive. (hardly crappy)
$599 for the PS3 with a 60gb hard drive.
There is no core option because the PS3 is relying on the HD for their games. Another reason why the PS3 will be a better machine.

unfortunately if you get the 499.00 one you have no hd dvd functionality like Sony claims due to current encryption technology that it doesn't support. So your losing more than just hd space...

Do you have proof? I dont see how Sony could possibly do that because they are relying on the HD DVD. I would love to see source.

Wow thats crazy. But you can still have 1080p.
"The $499 PS3 model will be able to transmit games in full 1080p High-Definition via component cables without a problem," Basically you are just losing the HD-DVD

hey Lethal i cant believe you didnt know this. Sony is realiying on Blue-Ray not HD-DVD, HD-DVD is what the Xbox360 is realiying on.
the core version of the PS3 is gonna suck, $499 for a 20gig harddrive with no features, or you could get the $299 Premium version of the 360, and buy an optional 100gig harddrive. (yes the 360 will have a price drop before the PS3 launches

How is xbox relying on HD-DVD when it doesnt have it? And this might sound noobish but for some reason I thought the Blu Rays discs sony is using were only playable on a HD-DVD which is why I said that. Call me a noob i dont care lol.

noob... just playin! Granted it was after the initial launch that Microsoft released the HD DVD player but they are relying on HD-DVD versus Sony relying on Blu Ray. Big gamble but Sony is known to impress... I personally think that HD DVD is the way to go. HD DVD is already supported by Toshiba, NEC, Sanyo, MICROSOFT, and Intel and is already backed by Paramount, Universal and Warner Bro's. HD has single layer 15 gig storage, dual layer 30 gig, and now triple layer 45 gig. Blu Ray can store up to 100 gig on a multi layer disc. HD DVD will support both HD and non HD hardware and can be applied to red laser dvds also. Blu Ray will work w/ old hardware but does not support red laser discs (BLU ray, RED laser... makes sense). Blu Ray is the primary reason for Sony's price increase on both systems...
How it works: the blue-violet ray used to write and read Blu-ray discs use a shorter wave length allowing for more storage on the disc.
You're no longer a noob!

No prob! I am interested in seeing how blu-ray looks... imagine a blu-ray cd-r, 100 gigs on one disc? I'll go back to using portable cd players and throw my ipod away, lol!

a blu-ray CD-R won't exsist, it's a DVD format.
