help xbox live :(

Right heres the problem when i try to downlaod some update to get online it always fails.According to my 360 my network settings are fine so whats the problem?

EDIT:ok i've gotten past that now but whensiging in it says xbox live signin is not available now please try later. Is this me or microsoft screwing up?

Could be Microsoft, could be your connection. Are you using the wireless networking adapter?

ok i have 2 gamertags the i made when i got my 360 and one made a while back on my computer.When i try to log in with my account that i made on my 360 it says the names been taken and i can't log in so i use the one that i made with my computer a while ago.How do i get online with the account i made on my 360?
