View Full Version : A new ESRB rating (E10+)

The ESRB just introduced a new rating: "E10+" This is for games that fit somewhere between the E rating (ages 6 and up) and the T rating. I know that this affects approximately zero people here, but I though it was kind of interesting since there has been some speculation that a new rating was needed.

if anything they should of put a rating between T and M.

I think a T+ rating would have been good too, but what they were probabaly trying to do is sort of copy the movie ratings (a game rated E is like a movie rated G, E10+ is like PG, T is PG13 and so on)

on G4 tech Tv theres a show called icons, it was about ESRB and a guy from ESRB said he wanted a rating between T and M, putting it between E and T is useles, the only reason I care about this is because my mom won't let me buy or rent M rated games...

I thought someone on CAG made a good point, this new rating may have been made because under the old ratings, The Incredibles game was given the T rating (because of cartoon violence  )

Critics, can't listen to what they say. I say screw the rating and give me the dang game whether its rated E or M. They rate these games just like they rate movies. One wrong word or scene and the rating is though the roof. If parents are that concerned over how bad a game like the incredibles would be then someone shot me. "Oh man, look, The cartoon guy just punched the other guy so I'm going to rate it T and not let kids play it." Da, what do you expect from a cartoon superhero game. Give me a break.

AGREE'D. The Incredibles just proves that the people who rate the games are too sensitive, and can be waaaaay too harsh when giving out the ratings.

Anywho, no, there should not be these stupid esrb ratings. They should be simple ratings such as recommended for young children, recommended for children, recommended for mature children, recommended for teenagers, recommended for mature audience, and hillary duff porn  Anything else is wrong

I think E10 will become the new "target" audience for developers. They can make their character kill something without having that pesky teen looming over their profiteering heads.

I hope developers won't conform to the lets all make an E10 game ideal. I don't know, but it seems like before it was split between teen and E.

I'm still wondering why lumines (a puzzle game) got E10...

I'm still wondering why lumines (a puzzle game) got E10...I was laughing over this. Maybe some of the backgrounds or music was too "suggestive". :? I haven't experienced anything like that so far, but I haven't gotten through too many stages yet.

I got a game save with 100 percent (mostly because I suck at puzzle games) and it didn't look like it was worth that rating but, whatever. maybe 9 year olds can't handle it.

I suppose everyone has that development company that is forced to make this or that game. Very dissapointing.

I just hope that E10 won't eclipse E and T games as we know them. I hope developers won't say "Lets take this out" or "Lets put this in" just to make more money, let their creations be their creations.
