well, i did some clicking around on ebay, checking out DS stuff, and i found this little bundle of hope: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18807&item=8183394628&rd=1
so if this thing really works then i have a lot of hope for nintendo's play yan. i really cant wait to see that come stateside.

I've seen the older version of this and this model once or twice floating around ebay for a while. Personally I don't have much interest in it, but with this and the play-yan, the DS should be able to compete with the PSP on that level too. Perhaps a play-yan DS bundle will show up in the future.

I don't know. I don't really think about my postcount. I just click on all the yellow threads, and if I find something interesting, or feel I have something to say I post. I don't think I post 80 times a day. Do I?

even if you do, its okay. you at least contribute to the sites well being and not spam up the boards.

LOL i click the yellow ones too!I'm not surprised, it is the best way to see what new posts have been made.
Anyway, to go on topic, another reason I avoided this was because on the auction I checked the conversion software to make it work was PC only.

OK ON TOPIC the psp has these abilitys built in, and its beautiful screen is far superior to the ds's. The psp wins in this catagory.

OK ON TOPIC the psp has these abilitys built in, and its beautiful screen is far superior to the ds's. The psp wins in this catagory.First of all, the quality of the video is entirely dependent on the source file for both. Secondly, to fit on the memory card most people have for their PSP, the file will have to be compressed down because it's the same card they store all their games and music. I admit, that because the Play-yan uses the GBA processor as opposed to the DS, the quality will never be as good as the PSP's, but depending on the source file, I say they could be closer than many think. Also, as of this point any copyrighted movies or television shows converted to go onto either of these is illegal. That's right, even if you own the DVD legally due to the encoding process necessary to do this that cracks the encryption it is illegal. Also if you download a copy of a movie you own, since it is technically not the same copy, it's illegal. Also, sure that 16:9 screen is beautiiful, but most of the converted or illegally download cam movies you'll get for that will not only be standard television ratio, they'll have clipping and cropping. This means most of that beautiful screen will be displaying not but black pixels. I will agree, the PSP has the edge here, a serious one, but unless you're talking about official Sony UMD's there will be issues.

Well the thing is the lcd used in the psp can get soooo many more colors on screen than the ds, plus the resolution are alot higher. For this player you still have to have one memory card to fit music and videos on, and gamesaves take up hardly any room.

i dont care about file size and what not. its transfer time that matters to me. i dont want to wait all day to upload a movie and some music.

Sure that'll be fine for your gave saves, but at decent quality that won't hold 30 minutes of video.

there is no way you are gonig to put that much video on your first card, you will need to get a bigger one.

Exactly. In my opninion, to be functional, you would need at least the 256 MB card, and that's what sony should have included in the bundle.

What kind of memory card do you have in yours? I'd grab a couple 1 gigabyte cards if I had one.

yeah they are if you bought a PSP and they had a gig then it would cost 400$ mabye less but that would be really stuppid so I see why the only included a smaller one.
