EB Games has great trade-in deal for PSP games

Right now up until 3/22 EB will give $10 credit towards ANY PSP game for each Xbox/PS2/GC game you trade in that's not on the excluded list. It's at....

So trade in four or five cheap-o games you don't want for a new PSP title. If you're not sure what game(s) you want yet for the PSP, there's an easy way to 'bank' your credit now for use later.

One the games in EB's system is Infected (with a release date in October). Pre-order this now and on March 24th (or anytime after the PSP's release) when the launch games get reviewed more thoroughly, just cancel the pre-order and use the credit for something different.

Yeah Rebel Strike and the other two games were excluded even though they arent on the list. The guy at eb even checked on the other computer to make sure there was no limit to the ammount of games that could be traded in on the dea even though there was a long line

I went into EB Games just a few minutes ago, and there were new employees working there. I tried to explain to them about the $10 trade-in deal, but they didn't know what the hell I was talking about. I tried to remember the promotion number, but I forgot. :( They did, however, have that flyer in the store for trading in 3 select PS2/Xbox/GCN games and get a first-party PSP game for free. When you finally get a hold of your PSP game(s) that you got for "free" from the trade-in 3 games deal, return to your local EB Games before 14 days from your pick-up date. Return your sealed PSP game in for store credit, and use that credit on the PSP game of your choice. :D

Well, I don't have any of the PSP games with me yet...but yes, I've done that before. A few weeks ago, I bought the GameCube version of Soul Calibur II at my local EB Games, only to come home and find out that I already have the Xbox version (sad, I know..). So a few days later, I went back and return the game for my money. So long as you return it before 14 days of the purchasing date, and the game is still sealed, you're good to go.

Hehe, I went back to my local EB Games and asked them if I can cancel a few of the PSP games that I preordered, and preorder other PSP games. The manager told me "no problem". :lol: The only game I kept from my previous preorder is Twisted Metal: Head On, so here's what I changed:

It's a definite YMMV - depends on the clerk you get. Probably best if you don't try to switch the credit right after you traded in the games. Go back another day when there's someone different behind the counter. Being a known customer helps too.

Ridge Racer is one of the games that will be in short suppy according to EB emails from their home office.

Make sure you call ahead and make sure the game you want to trade is not on the list.

I went down there with 3 games not on the online excluded list, but one of them (Obi Wan) was not counted because it was on the new and improved excluded list not yet online.

It worked out that I still got WipEout Pure for $20. But free would have been nice.

I could have waited but I had to go to 2 different stores to even find one with the game...so I figured $20 better then $40 so why not.

Apparently as of about 12pm EST EB corporate issued a notice to all EB's that Trade-in Offers will no longer be Valid in combination with Demo Discs Including ANY PS2 Jampacks.

From this point on.... it all depends on how well informed your EB clerks are...

Jampack 11's and Xbox Exhibitions are deemed "invalid for trade-in offers"

**UPDATE OF MY DILEMMA** DILLEMA? DILLEMMA? Whatever...

I'm sad to report this, but hell was not raised when I went back. :( Feeling groggy this morning, I forced myself to get up and get ready to head down to my mall (that's where my EB Games is located). I don't normally go to the mall in the morning, but I wasn't expecting anybody to be there. I stopped by a local Starbucks, checked out the babes behind the counter, drank my caramel frappiccino and left. A few minutes later, I arrived at the mall with fiery eyes and a passion to get what I want. Which are Darkstalkers Chronicle and Gretzky NHL shrinkwrapped! I proceeded inside the retailer and looked at the cashier straight in the eyes. She was fuggin' hot! :drool:

*ahem* I explained to her my situation and she then calls her manager. Out comes this young lad who looks similar to a friend of mine. When he first saw me, he said "hey, I remember you, you were in here a few days ago, what can I help you with?" I explained to him what happened and he completely understands. He searched high and low for the games that were taken out for the display cases. He found Darkstalkers but couldn't find Gretzky NHL. I requested to have a shrinkwrapped copy of Darkstalkers because one of the employees a few days ago tried to give me the display case with the game in it, which I declined. The manager said "no problem". As for Gretzky NHL, he checked the computer to see if they had any in stock. But they were all out. He told me to come back tomorrow and see if there's any in stock by then because they were expecting a shipment to arrive. Right after he said that, the UPS d00d comes in! He tells me to hang out for a moment while I stared at his awesome-lookin' employee. He checks the computer again, and tells me that there are a few copies of Gretzky NHL with this shipment, so he could give me the game right then and there. Wow, I was expecting to bust some skulls, but that never took place.

Before I left, he then asked me "hey, don't you have other PSP games preordered?" I looked at the chick (I don't know why) and said "yeah, I have four other PSP games preordered". He asked me for my phone number and checked what other games I have preordered. It turns out, that new shipment had all the games I paid off! w007 w007! So I walked out of the store with Darkstalkers Chronicle, Gretzky NHL, Lumines, Metal Gear Acid, Untold Legends and Ridge Racer. All shrinkwrapped. ^_^

Socheata I hope my troubles are as easy to remedy as yours. I have a HORROR STORY to relate from EB last night.

Mission.
take in 16games for the PO trade in deal at EB (none on the exclusion list, I checked). I did a trade in earlier in the week so I figured it would take me a max 15 minutes. I computed the total should have been worth min $160 and upwards of $210.

This deal could work in 1 of 2 ways:
1. $10 credit for each game towards any psp title 16x10=$160
...OR...
2 The Sony releases are 3 for 1 so figure....5x$40 = $200 + $10 for the extra game (see #1)= total $210

Execution
I got to the store at 7pm, one person behind the counter :evil: , but no one in the store :) .
The guy was real nice :D and very knowledgeable about games 8) and happy to share that knowledge. Unfortunatley he obviously can't talk and work the register at the same time :roll: . So he looks at my stack says "no problem" with a big friendly smile and then commences to start talking my ear off. I'm cool with that, no rush.... EXCEPT.... in the mean time a number of people come in the store. I feel like I am looking to get a good CAG deal so being the gentalman I am I proceed to stand aside as he helps the stream of kids trying to convince their parents to "loan me like 2 bucks pllllleassseee" and answer the phone multiple times to explain that the PSP goes on sale 3/24 like it "says on your preorder".
So in the process of him talking on the phone and "helping" all the customers in the previosly empty store the register line adds 10 people. Now keep in mind that all my PO games are scanned in and we just need to finalize the deal. :?

Then the register that he is using to ring people up on goes down and will not accept credit cards. Of course we have to wait 10 minutes with customer number 1 of 10 trying to checkout to find this is the case. Eventualy he dumps my stuff from the other register, clears it, and uses that register to check out the line. We are now talking past 8pm, I have been there for over an hour.

Ok everyone is gone, my turn. We run all my PO games through for the second time and begin to set up the deal. While we are working on finalizing the deal he calls the manager to see what to do about the crashed register.

Answer=Reboot

which he promptly does.

I go to pay on my register, only guess what. The reboot of the other register seems to screw up my register and we loose the whole deal we have set up. Seems to be locking up on credit cards so while he is trying to straighten the whole mess out, I DRIVE to the frigging bank and get cash, so I don't have to use my plastic again.

I come back, we ring my PO games through for the 3rd time.

The deal ends up COSTING me $57.99 out of pocket

Ok so now I have paid and it is 9pm. We are both cool with each other but both of us just wanted to get home. So I take my new purchases and my 3 foot long receipt and head for the door figuring I will deal with straightening this all out later.

Now it is later, tonight I get to go back in and see if I can straighten the whole frigging mess out....I am sure it will be a different employee who doesn't know me from Adam. And could give a crap about my sob story.

What I hope to do is basically get a refund for EVERYTHING
1. Give them back what I bought
2. Get my PO games and cash back
3. Trade them in for sony release titles (total value $200 see above)
4. Go back later and trade in the sony titles for credit on other titles

Yhea Yhea I know #4 is a bit shady and YMMV but they seemed pretty cool, just bad luck with my transaction. Plus I feel like its KARMA after waiting around 2 hours last night to trade in my games plus we are talking a potential difference of up to $85 in trade in credit, thats like adding both Ridge Racer and Darkstalkers for FREE. Woth a bit or groveling if I do say so myself.

I just have to walk softly so that I don't P- anyone off. If I can get this to work it will be a SWEET deal. Wish me luck!

well i ran into my first problem with this deal today, at a different EB than i usually go to, an employee WOULD NOT let me return wipeout pure for store credit with my reciept. She said she could only give me back in trade what the trade in games were worth (which of course was only around 3 bucks). She did let me exchange it for another game on the same trade in 3 list, and I got a new reciept that just listed the trade of wipeout for my new game (Ape Escape). So, now I think i can take this new reciept that has no mention of the trade in deal, and try to return Ape Escape later.

I also picked up my preorder of Darkstalkers Chronicle, since my local EB has that in stock already. HOWEVER, when I got home and checked the PSP games I got, the EB dude gave me the display cases of Gretzky NHL and Darkstalkers. :? They have those new stickers on it, but the games were missing and it wasn't even shrinkwrapped. I'm gonna go back and raise hell until I get my (shrinkwrapped) games! :evil:
same problem, trade v joe (GC), NFS hot pursuit(GC) and trigger man (ps2) for twisted metal, the clerk gave me a display box, the umd is from the shelves
i asked her for shrinkwrapped but she said she doesnt have it.... its al il bit late and theyre closing, so i think "screw it... im getting this game for $17 anyway" but when i got home im a bit disapointed...so maybe ill come back again tomorrow asking for a switch

i got those games from blockbuster for $40 (buy2get1free), then i went to EB and handed the blockbuster bag to the clerk and told him what i wanted. He looked mad, and asked if i just bought them, i laughed and said "No, i just had these great games laying around...yea, i just bought them". then he says to the manager that alot of ppl are buyign cheap games for credit. 3 of the games didnt have the real cover with the barcode on the back, they had the generic blockbuster sheet. he said that they cant take them without the barcode. I didnt really care, i didnt even want ape escape, i didnt even bother to play it, i just looked at the back cover and then threw it in the backseat of my car. i had my eyes set on reserving metal gear or getting ridge racer. so as i was signing the reciept, he asked if i planned on doing this trade again, i said prolly not. he was like ok, im gonna take these games (ones without covers) but u better not do anymore trades, so i got ape escape for those.
why does he care anyway? hes not losing anything, he doesnt own EB, hes not gonna see a loss. I dunno, guess he loves his job.

so driving home, i pass by gamestop to look for accesories and saw they had a buy2get1 deal also. so i picked up

yea, deus didnt work, i looked for invisible warrior on the list i had with me, and not deus ex....but luckily i had an old pool game for ps2 that i didnt use anymore, so i used that...got wipeout, tryna set up the browser thing..

Can you turn in a bunch of the same games? My blockbuster has a buy 1 get 1 half off deal, and I saw that Max Payne 2 was only $7. So roughyl $10 for 2 copies of it, and they have atleast 20 copies of it. Max Payne 2 isnt on the excluded list as to my knoledge so I was wondering if I bring 10 copies of Max Payne 2, will he let me trade them in? Anyone have any experience with this?

damn socheta that's alot of game's you gave in, but those are some sweet games you got in return I guess... I personally would have waited for bleach/naruto to come in before doing the deal but who knows how long they have the offer up for :/ anyway I wouldn't give in 5 games 1 for one no way. I do the 3 games for 1 though.
