Sure it sold well but does anyone else think it's not living up to it's true potential. Almost all of the games currently on it use the touch screen as a gimmick.

I wouldnt call it a failed concept, but I dont think its living up to its potential. The lack of 3rd party support is really whats hurting it imo.

I think that the DS was never meant to be a great success--it was only meant to be an obstacle for the PSP to struggle against until the true new Gameboy could be released.

I think the current state of the DS is a failed usage. It's currently nothing more than a gimmick i'd have to agree. I agree that it would be better put to use in strategy games and RTS games. It's gonna be tough to make those well on such a small screen but i'm sure it can be done. I've already lost my faith in nintendo for the last time however so I don't think i'll be buying a DS again.
In my personal opinion I feel that handhelds are not the same to me as consoles. I cannot tolerate having anymore than one current gen handheld that I carry around since really when i'm mobile I only have room for one. I just hope I use it more than I did the SP and I sure as hell hope alot more than the DS.

I think it will do great once it gets some more good games.

The games so far havent been gimicks, just that a bunch of the games on the DS shouldnt have touch screen controls to begin with. Football is not a game to be played using a touchscreen to pass and moving around with the touchscreen in mario is frankly a pain in the butt. When games are made to use the touchscreen like FTM and Yoshi T&G the system shines. The other problem is some of the games it is easier to use the D-pad/buttons then the touchscreen. I really hope they get some games on it that are made to take advantage of the touchscreen
