Why spend $20 or more on a UMD movie when you can buy the dvd, shrink it and watch it on your PSP and your regular DVD player.

Leaves more room for other movies and they are a higher quality. :D UMDs so far seem to be priced like dvds. Pretty much all DVDs have a MSRP of $19.99, but are usually sold for less. Amazon has UMDs for $14ish. If you buy 2 you get free shipping.

If they put Aladdin or Mary Poppins on UMD, I'm going to be forced to get it. WB should release Willy Wonka.

I hope they sell well. Music on UMDs are next, I can't wait to rebuy the White Album for the 3rd time.

Looks like the UMD will be a hit unlike miniDiscs and BETA tapes. Finally, one of Sony's products might make it.
*miniDiscs and BETA were the best mediums but did not do well with the public due to price and availability. Also BETA lost to VHS cause VHS can hold 2 more hours...even though BETA had better picture quality....

If I get any UMDs they will be old releases since they will range from 10 to 20 bucks. I'll gladly snag Total Recall for 10 bucks.

I would probably buy The Incredibles on UMD for the right price.

MDs were a success in Japan, and to a certain extent here in the States. Comparing UMDs to MDs and Beta is like apples and oranges though.
