Why am I not receiving messages?

Well I'm sending messages to people and they're going through, but none are coming in. I've tried emailing myself from my computer a bunch of times and none have come through and then I added filthy to my friends list and he added me to him and he sent one to me and it took like 7 hours to come through. What's going on? Is it just a setting or do the emails always take this long?

when I went to my friends house (who has a wii) I told him about the front of the wii being blue and all you had to do is send yourself a message. He was excited about it so we went on his laptop I sent him an email and it did not go through untill when we woke up the next morning.I guess it could be timing?

Maybe just a really crappy ass connection ?

Mine go through within an hour or so, usually.
