Well I have only one reason. Think about it a hard drive can be easily damaged by smashing it (dropping the psp). If things are on your hard drive then you will just lose them. I have an iPod and I dropped it accidentally once and it stopped working. It was because the hard drive corrupted, I had to put it into repair good thing I had a 1 yr warranty (it comes with the iPod). So this is why a hard drive in a psp is NOT good.

Anything can break if you drop it. I dont think thats a good enough argument to rule it out completely.

This is more an argument for why a PSP should always be in its case when not in use.

The PSP looks like if you drop it the glass would crack anyway. I'd recommend not dropping it, regadless of a hard drive!!! :)

but still I would agree with the first post. Hard drives can and will surely die sooner or later. Im not saying the technology is dying, im just saying that hard drives dont last long and if they DO experience some shock (as in dropping the unit on the ground) then YES, it may be damged and become corrupted. And hard drives can also develop bad sectors over time, so memory sticks are the way to go.

glass, what glass? there is no glass on the psp, there is a plastic screen, it will crack but no glass 8). plus the psp is tougher than you might think, mine has fallen/ben droped twice and it still works great.
