Here's the deal:

Apply for a Target Visa or Guest Card at time of purchase. If you are approved, you get 10% off all of your purchases that day. This is how I bought my PSP, Metal Gear Ac!d (along with a rain check discount) and a USB cable. Good way to save at least $25.

I don't know if that's a typo or if he's been pulling your leg but the Target Team Member discount is 20%. Unless you mean if you combine the employee discount with the guest card application and get 20% which is altogether possible, I did that to get my iPod actually.

how does that mess with your credit?

Too many credit inquiries over a period of time lowers your credit score.

Too much available credit compared to your income lowers your credit score.

If you apply for these occasionally, pay them off on time and then cancel the card, it wont hurt your credit.

My point was to correct him before a bunch of people go get jobs at target thinking they're gonna get 20% off and then come back saying that its only 10%. Sure this may not happen but still, there's quite a bit of difference between 10% and 20%.
