Depends on the style of game you like. GT is a sim style game, where as Burnout or Need for Speed are a little more arcadey. Just depends on what you like.

I liked the first GT a lot. The other versions I was not into as much.

I do look forward to a GT on the PSP though.

Has anyone here ever played Vanishing Point for the Dreamcast? It was from Acclaim but I thought it the best racing game in years.

Well Ive played a few games.. racing.... Auto Matalista(cant spelllmao), Grant Tourismo (all !!), Midnight Club, and the need4speed undergrounds... there are others but these are best :).

Depending on what you want is what you should get. For example.. if you know NOTHING about cars and don't want to spend time getting better, dont get GT. GT is an excellent, prob the best (in my teary eyes) out there. GT lets you cutsomaize your car specifically. It doesn't pay much time on the looks of car (cept for the carwash), rather its all about tuning the car to fit the track and race. The driving is rather difficult and you will have to get licencese to race some events (in 1P)... there are several levels too! (c, b, a, aa, ba blah)... so you will spend lots of time perfecting your skills in this game.. also dont forget that this game is for rallying (WRC!!) and closed circuit racing,, nothing on streets and everything is made for realism!

Need4Speed Underground (and sequal) are the best street racer games. Very flashy and graphics are excellent. You can still customize the car but the options are very basic compared to GT. Also it focuses more on popularity... the looks. Dont get me wrong you still got speed, but this game is more for those body kits and tented with 55inch chromed rims! lmao Very good game, less realistic than GT, but excellent if you dont want to spend a poo-load of time playing, very fun in multiplayer... plus it has drift mode! The unique thing about this game is that you can cruise the whole city (NY or London) and actually find other drivers and race them (going behind and tapping them on their bumper) kinda like Tag Your It!!... but you get money if you lose them(they get like over 500ft behind you or something).. then when you get enouhg money you could buy the Pento youve been wanting (i liekd it dont have pento but pentos look funny in a way... friend wrecked his lol)

Midnight Club and sequal are pretty good games. You cant customize much at all and you get a motorcycle and SUVs etc. This game is good single player but I think its better multiplayer in games like capture the flag... very funny playing 3 other people and you keep crashing into the local dairy van... I like this game... you can hit pedestrians!!

Lastly is matautolista (spelling)... the graphics are very unique (almost like a cartoon)... this game is almost as customizable as GT and very good racing as well... may have to learn a bit before you get good at racin... but worth checking out never-the-less.

With defender i disagree.. i liked the last GT the best... BEST GRAPHICS!!! and same options etc.

Most recommender to you (lilmofo) is, if you have played a few racing games before, try out GT... it will challenge you, otherwise go for Need4Speed... its very fun and you could go online and play others (they will kick your arse but its cool regardless)

I think we are the only 2 people that bought vanishing point defender. That game was awesome.
