I'm really depressed right now because I found out that I got ripped off. This guys took my money and ran. I ordered a 1 Gb memory stick Pro Dup from Dragos Marius Enache ( iliemoromete2@yahoo.com ) at Amazon.com. he was real nice to me at first, answering all my emails, but once I sent the payment through Western Union, he stopped talking to me. I went to western union and found out he took the money. I used my other email address pretending I was a new customer and once again he did the same thing, being nice and blah blah blah, until I told him I was the same guy and wondered where my product was. Thats when he stopped answering me again. :( Right now, I'm in the process of getting my money back from Amazon.com, but I highly doubt they will refund my money. I'm just posting this up to warn you guys! Hope this doesn't happen to any of ya!!! I saved up my $112 for nothing....

Its not amazon.com fault though. Thats like blaming ebay for getting ripped off on an auction.

i found out how he did it too, he sent a fake email address (payments-secure-messages@amazon.com) I thought it was sent from amazon, but he made up that email address. the email was a way to pay him without using amazon...i didn't know this at the time because i thought it was an actually email from amazon, anyways, i followed the instuctions on the email (it looked so REAL!) and he got my money. i can't get back my refund now because amazon says there is no record of this transaction. :(

It's not like you were a dumbass or did anything stupid in this, like it is in alot of eBay auctions. I hope you can do something in this, but it doesn't look too good. :(

I've been defrauded by an Amazon Seller before and Amazon refunded my money with no problems. Thier A to Z protection plan is wonderful. I think this topic is incredibly misleading since it's not Amazon's fault you bought from a shady seller.

I imagine that the western union went to a foreign country as that is standard in these scams. This is a common scam and unfortunatly people are not sharp enough to realize that sending western union is like putting cash in an envelope and there is not recourse. He used a Phishing scam (spoofing the amazon.com email) and got you. I would take the steps with amazon-dont expect anything (as they are not liable-as you western union'ed cash) and start to get over it (little you can do so might as well move on). Bummer-as it was a $100 lesson in common sense.
Let us know how it turns out.

Yeah. Getting ripped off sucks, but its not Amazon's fault.
I bought some car parts a few years back through a classifieds site and got ripped off. I was able to go through my credit card company and get the money back, though. Through a company like Western Union, there isnt much you can do. Live and learn, I guess. The expensive lessons hurt.

Well I would'nt relate Amazon to Ebay. Ebay is pure evil and will only refund you past a certain point if you get scammed. Amazon's coverage will refund you in FULL.
Ebay and paypal are evil bastards really

Safe Shopping Tips
Amazon.com works hard to protect our customers. For your safety, when
ordering items advertised by sellers other than Amazon.com:
* Always place your orders directly through the Amazon.com shopping cart
using Amazon Payments. Never send money directly to sellers through wire
transfers or checks; we do not guarantee such transactions.
* Beware of e-mails that request direct payments, request payment to
international locations, or ask for personal information. Amazon.com will
never e-mail you to pay for Marketplace transactions outside our shopping
cart, or ask you to confirm personal information such as a credit card
number or password via e-mail. If a particular e-mail looks suspicious or
unusual, please contact us directly.
Reporting suspicious activity to reports@amazon.com will help us enhance
marketplace safety and serve you better in the future.
For more safe-shopping tips, read about Safe Online Transactions at
http://www.amazon.com/safe-secure
OP might be out of luck.
