A few weeks ago my nephews 360 started showing weird hues of blue and green. Then one day the video just went out completely its just a blank black screen. You can hear the dashboard load up and everything but no video. We have tried a brand new AV cord , tried different tv's and still no luck. Does anyone know of this problem or what is causing it and better yet how to fix it?

Any help would be very appreciated!

That would result in red lights. This sounds more like the output is damaged. Another reason why the system should have always came with an HDMI option. Of course I guess it could be GPU related that the 360 just isnt seeing.

check the output connectors on the back, see if they look damaged in any way. If you're not getting the red rings, that's probably the problem.

To further eliminate a A/V cord issue, try the original cable on another xbox/tv combination. Looks like you've tried everything else.

Why because HDMI Never Breaks? That sounds like a Sony FanBoy comment. :-)

Well, have you tried both RGB and Composite cables?

Or more like have another option for video in case you AV doesnt work. Enough with the fanboy stuff already :P. I am not a fanboy of any system. If anything it would be Microsoft.

I am having the same problem with my second console. It is a MS28 Samsung drive manufactured in June of 06. I have tested it on both my tvs (one standard definition and one high definition) with all three sets of cables and power supplies. Both of my other 360s work absoluetly fine. I called M$ and their response was to try it on a relatives tv. The xbox.com forums are flooded with tons of people having this same problem at the same time. So hopefully they will do a free repair instead of sticking it to us for half the cost of the console.

If you hole do the right trigger and the y button on a corded controller while your system starts it will reset the video display settings. This worked once for me, but the colors were still messed up and ultimately didn't change anything. I have since gone back to a solid black screen with white dots. Sometimes the float left to right horizontally and sometimes the float right to left diagonally from the top right corner of my tv to the left.

I tried everything to fix this console and oddly enough the only thing that actually got it working again was the towel trick I laughed at when I saw it. I left it wrapped up for ~30mins , let it cooldown for 20min. Hooked it all back up and video booted fine. Been working fine for 5 days now for around 4-5hrs a day. Not sure how long it will last but it may very well have solved the problem. BTW the problem was more than likely caused by the ANA (HANA) chip on the board , it is the chip that is directly connected to A/V input-output. I had contacted several people for repair and they all stated it would have been the most likely culprit. So for anyone that is having the same problem try the towel trick , **** it worked for me.

**EDIT**

I Jinxed myself , after posting this I started todays round of testing. The graphics started showing wierd lines and hues of color and shut off on reboot no video again -=[

Towel trick is temporary...

mine went out today on ups back to the repair center. I hope they give me a new console instead of refurbing mine!
