I don't like the design. And I think Xbox360 is the worst name for a console ever. Even worse than Xbox. I mean, come on: XBOX? Why didn't they just call it We-had-no-good-ideas-Box? "Game System" would've been a better name.

But that's not to say games on the Xbox360 won't look great and that I won't buy one. *sigh*

Well the images are from engadget.com which is normally a very reliable source, so that's why they "should be real."

Personally I don't care if the system is called 360, ApeXtreme or BabykillerAssmunchbox 69 as long as the games are quality and I can get them for cheap.

I have a feeling Xbox360 games won't be hitting that price range for a while. Then again, I'm sure the system will be ridiculously overpriced for a while, too.

I'm hearing rumors that the regular version of the Xbox 360 will be $299.99 while the version backwards compatitable with Xbox and HD will be $399.99.

I'm somewhat interested in Xbox 360, but I really want to see just how the Japanese support goes before I buy one.

From what I've read, the choice to name it the Xbox360 was so that consumers would not assume that the Xbox 2 was inferior to the Playstation 3.

Yes, I know it seems obvious, but if you're a parent buying your first game system, the last thing you want is to buy Junior the inferior model. So, if you've got a choice and you know nothing, do you buy Random System Version 3 or Random System Version 2?

Xbox360 might be a dumb name, but from a marketing standpoint, it makes sense. No hardcore gamer is going to avoid it simply on the name and you save yourself from potential confusion.

indeed I agree there are parents stupid enough to assume that an Xbox 2 would be inferior to a Playstation 3 solely by name. I do think they could have come up with a better name than 360.
