We've had a whole lot of discussions debating which is the best company, why not a thread stating why they're all great?

Sony: Ten years ago products made by Sony were the best money could buy, even now they're high up on the food chain, making visually stunning, durable, and powerful products. Let's face it, they have a name to sell. Playstation was a hit, winning the past two generations of console war, Sony has set their name to an even more prestigious level in the gaming industry with their past two consoles, regardless of the price, they may be able to do it again. When it comes to the hand-held gaming Sony has managed to be some great competition for Nintendo, but the PSP still manages to fall short of the Ds, possibly because UMD load times when compared to the almost absent cartridge load times.

Microsoft: Microsoft, they have the experience by making the best selling and a very user friendly operating system. Their network experience indeed helped them with making indisputably the best online service for console gaming. Last generation they managed to come in second, (though it was my favorite of the consoles) even with it's horribly placed black and white buttons, with their rushed eighteen month design of the Xbox. Halo has given them a bigger name in the gaming industry than anybody would have expected, without it, they may have failed. Now in this new generation they've had an amazing head-start, they've had roughly a year since launch of the Xbox 360 and they're nearing 10,000,000 sales. With the launch of that console, they let everybody know that they were here to stay in the gaming industry.

Nintendo: Now, on to my favorite of the companies. Nintendo made my first system, Super Nintendo, that system was a power house and really put them on the map. After that they slowly started to decline, though the Nintendo 64 had some amazing games, The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario: 64, Star Fox 64, and many others, it still managed to get beat out by the Playstation, possibly because of it's use of cartridges instead of discs. Nintendo has had some great releases in the past, and some great consoles, but they were under appreciated. The Gamecube had some great games but third party support was lacking in that system as well, still, a great console, it managed to get beat out by the competition and come in last in the most recent generation, possibly because of it's color some people believe. Though Nintendo hasn't done a great job in the console industry, they have managed to thoroughly rape the competition in the hand-held gaming industry. They've had some interesting competition like, Neo Geo and PSP (probably their best), but with games like Golden Sun, Metroid Fusion, and their remakes of the great NES and SNES games. To sum it up, Nintendo is great in the console industry when it comes to party games, but when it comes to serious gaming they're not as great. But regardless you have to admit that in the hand-held industry there is no other. Who would have thought that a plumber could do so much for a company?

If you think anything else deserves to be stated, go right ahead.

Very nice thread. Though I feel the N64 deserves a little more credit. And I feel Nintendo needs to get back to the "Quality over quantity" motto.

Past trends show that the first console to sell 10 million comes out the winner!
