Will so many people dogging the PS3 without owning one I decided to make a pro/con list for both systems.

Pros
Xbox 360 Premium
1. Modder friendly. Microsoft seen how many gamers were modding the original Xbox and they did a great job making this system very modder friendly.
2. Great graphics (Gears of War, COD3, Madden 07, Oblivion)
3. Superb Marketplace. Microsoft has a head start with the marketplace and has really shined in this area. Its nearly flawless.
4. Lots and lots of games
5. Achievements. This is what makes gamers buy more games and play them till the end. This is by far the greatest idea by a game manufacturer ever. Gamers have a reason to complete these $60 games, even if they suck lol.

PS3 60gb
1. Blu-Ray HD Player. This is great for those who dont want to drop $999.99 on a standard blu-ray player.
2. Use your PSP to access your PS3 hard drive. You can literally be anywhere and access your hard drive to look at pictures or listen to music.
3. Free online. Now its no XBL but it is free. Games like Resistance can host 40players and saves your stats for free.
4. Web Browser. Now I personally dont use it but there are some that do. Its pretty simple to use especially with a USB keyboard. You can also use browser in HD.
5. Great graphics. (Fight Night Rd.3, Madden 07, Resistance)
6. 50gb of storage each disk. This is 4x larger than the 360 which means larger games and more detail.
7. 60GB hard drive. Sony planned ahead on this one and PS3 owners wont have to dish out more money later to upgrade.
8. HDMI support/Memory card slots

CONS
Xbox 360 Premium
1. Overheating! This seems to be the 360's biggest fault. Thousands of systems overheat at no fault to the gamer.
2. System lag. Even with a 3 core 3.2ghz cpu the system still loses frame rates in certain games. (Madden 07, Oblivion, N3)
3. Small 20GB Hard drive. This is just too small. 360 owners have to dish out even more money for the upgrade.
4. No HDMI support. If you want HDMI you have to purchase the HD-DVD player. Another upgrade.

PS3 60GB
1. Lack of games. Sony didnt have anywhere near the games the 360 had at launch.
2. Poor PS Store. Yes its free but the store is pretty empty and Sony knows what Microsoft is already pushin.
3. Controller signal drops. Every once in a while the signal from the controler drops and can cause major frustration while in a game.
4. No HDMI or HD cables with system? Once you open the box you realize you have to go back to the store and purchase some cables ranging from $30-$100. Thanks alot Sony!
5. Lack of achievement system. Microsoft has done amazing things with this system which is what made the company lots of money. Sony needs to compete with their own system ASAP!

OVERALL
Price - For the money I think the PS3 is the better deal.
Quality - No overheating and no lack of frames with the PS3
Games - 360 blows the PS3 away in this area
Online - Even though you have to pay for the good stuff the 360 dominates this area too.

If I were to choose between the 2 right now I would pick the 360. There are just so many games to choose from and the achievement system is fantastic. Followed with a wonderfull marketplace where you can rent new movies or even purchase shows like Spongebob Squarepants for your kids. Hopefully by next year the PS3 will make the choice tougher.

WINNER
Xbox 360

This is in no way a console war thread. I understand that some may not agree with everything I have said but this is my personal experience with the 2 systems. This is to help gamers decide what is the best choice to spend their money on.

You say it is a better deal for the price? It is still $200 more that the xbox 360, and the 20gb version of the ps3 is still $100 more.

Xbox 360 = $400
HD-DVD = $200
Upgrade to larger Hard drive = $100 minimum Since the 20gb is $100 a larger hard drive will most likely cost $150-$200
Total = $700 minimum

PS3 60gb = $600 no upgrades needed.

PS3 is the better buy for the price.

I am not comparing the 20gb PS3 just like I am not using the core 360. I dont waste money on lesser value systems.

my 360 dosn't overheat at all.
Is it because its a newer model or something?
Yeh when outdoors in oblivion there is a bit of lag.
20gb is plenty for me at the moment.

I think there was a few rumours that microsoft will get a blu ray player add on.....

Not all 360's overheat. There are some new ones that do overheat. I personally think this is why Microsoft is switching to 65nm chips that produce less heat. I know its cheaper but I think its because of the heat. And sure 20gb is enough for right now but wait until you download a few demos and few TV shows. I only have 3GB left and I dont want to delete any shows that I paid for. Just a very poor move on Microsoft having only a 20gb option. Then we have to transer the 20gb over to the new hard drive. Its going to be a process. And people that dont have a computer are going to have some problems transfering their data.

Another task that shouldnt be needed. I dont like redownloading things on my computer let alone my 360.

My 360 does kinda overheat but I was given a Nyko 360 Intercooler for free from my mate so I just use that.

I don't hate the PS3 but in my opinion I would buy the XBOX 360.

Well, even though I have had 2 console overheat (on my 3rd now) I still disagree with the overheating statement lol... The new console rarely overheat, prob. the same amount as PS3s that overheat (very few I'm sure)... The first ones overheated like CRAZY but, at this point, as long as you get a new one, you should be ok.

Nice comparison though!

Lethal

The new console rarely overheat

I dont think I even need to comment on that lol. You said it right there. The new model still overheats. And you are on your 3rd one. An annoying problem that never should have happened to a $400 system. I dont understand why people continue to make excuses for Microsoft. But again this isnt a thread to start a war. Your opinion is your opinion. Agree to disagree.

Meh - I never went online with my xbox 360. Well maybe once to check it out and to update it. Same thing with my PS3, but since the PS3 is region free I will be importing tons of games.

Meaning I get to play games months ahead of other PS3 and xbox 360 users.

for whats its worth im realy digging PS3 at the moment. Too bad sony priced it out of my realistic reach. Both consoles are disssapointing if you look at one way. The step from Snes to N64 was huge . Playstation1 to playsation 2 wasbig aswel but i can honestly say some 360 games look the same or only just better then some orginal xbox games

I jsut got a 360 about a week ago and love every bit of it. The marketplace is where i think the system really shines at, it has so much to offer at a reasonable price.

Me personally i'm getting the PS3 at this time for Blu-ray<<more movies I can enjoy with my family. And using the the 360 at this time for gaming. In a year or so the PS3 will have the games correct and not direct ports and also there exclusive titles. So all in all i'll have the best of both worlds. Nice review Lethal...

4. No HDMI support. If you want HDMI you have to purchase the HD-DVD player. Another upgrade.

Xbox 360

thanks for the review it's good to see an honest review, BUT i cannot believe no one caught this. Even with the HD-DVD you cannot have HDMI until the Zephyr(sp?) comes out, The HD-DVD runs through USB to the 360 and then to get 1080p you must use VGA cable otherwise component cables will only produce 1080i. Also with the VGA cable i will upconvert standard dvd's to 1080i but will not with component.

My review is if your looking for HD movies and worry more about hidef movies then get the ps3 it is worth the money, but if you want a gaming system and could care less about hidef movies get a 360

It will downscale to 480p if you have a 1080i TV that doesnt support 720p. 720p has to be supported to enjoy the PS3 at all.

Yes it really was... But oh well. This is a great review, I agree completely, good job Lethal. I was just wondering though, in the marketplace, when I try to download the shows, or even just look at them, how come all of them are just trailers, I thought you could download the real show. Or is there something you have to do to make the real show pop up?

I have downloaded 15 full episodes of Spongebob and South Park. When you download them go to your videos and watch them. Episodes are roughly 160msp each. If you arent paying for them then you are not getting the full episode.

Do you have to already have the MS points on your account for those to show up? Because I just looked and there isn't even a Spongebob or South Park in the menus. I looked throughout all the media downloads, and couldnt find any full version shows, just trailers and such.
