PS3 Update ver.1.5 now available

Just turned on my PS3 and seen this new update. Not sure what it is exactly but I will edit this post once I see the changes.

"Word from Kotaku is the latest PS3 firmware update has finally fixed the the graphical problems present when playing backwards-compatible PS1 and PS2 games. They've noted that Okami and MGS3 are working perfectly, and with the appropriate pretty pictures too"


User can now set an image/photo (off a mem stick etc) for their user id
Edy support added (for payment via card reader)
'operation sound' added to sound settings
'delete backup data' added to backup utilities subsetting
WEP128, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK(AES) can now utilize AOSS
Can now remember your login password without using automatic login
Korean keyboard setting can be used

The updates says I can use a picture off my memstick as my User ID but I cant figure out how. If anybody knows how to do this please post it here.

Since it's similar to a PSP, maybe hitting triangle on the image you want? Doesn't it bring up a menu?

Nope. Ive tried all that already. There is no option to set the image to anywhere. Not even a wallpaper.

At this time, I wouldn't suggest that you update past 1.32 ;) I'm saying anything else right now until I have further info, but you get the idea... ;)

The PS3 wont connect online without the update. Its either update or no more online play for you lol. But ya I get what your saying.

Not that I can see. What version firmware for the PSP allowed you to start using pictures as wallpaper?

It was added in 2.00 firmware. This was the third update for North America.

Thanks, hopefully the next update (3rd) will have this feature. Only time will tell....

Just thought I'd say it in this thread instead of making a new one: Sony announced the launch date for Europe, it will arrive on the 23rd of March. Get saving ;)

I did notice that now my Blu-Ray movies play in 1080i instead of 720p.

I havent tried to compare yet. I just popped in Taladega Nights and noticed it was in 1080i. I doubt you can really tell a difference though.

It depends on the TV if you notice a difference, and how big it is.
