FF10 help!!!!!

i have to ask this about final fantasy 10:

Has anyone got the aeon/summon,YOJIMBO?
because if so, what did you pay him?(when you pay him to join)
cause' ive looked at ff10 sites and alot of them say if you
half the asking price and plus 1gil/minus 1gil....ect....
does this actually work?.....it doesn't for me!!!!
plus there are ppl sayin that if you triple the askin price he will join?!?!
so would someone please confirm what YOU did and if any of this is true!!!

all i know is that you need a hell of alot of money to get him.....never actually got that far in the game tho.....just try random amounts. The real surprise will be when you use him to attack. You best bet is to sell everything you have now....

Umm.....dam I haven't played this in a looong time. I think it was ½ a million.

This is from the strategy guide, and it worked for me...

"Proceed to the Chamber of the Fayth and speak to Yojimbo to negotiate a fee for his services. He will offer his lowest initial asking price if you choose the option "To defeat the most powerful of enemies." For your first bid, offer half of his asking price plus one gil. So, if he asks for 250,000 Gil, ofer 125,001 Gil. After his next offer, raise your bid by 1 Gil. By the time he proposes 205,000 Gil, he wil generally accept offers below 200,000 Gil, though not much lower. If at any point you offer him at least triple his asking price, he will give you two Teleport Spheres in addition to his services."
