Alright, followed your steps exactly but this is what I came up with.

It's really dark as you can tell but I tried lots of different colors and nothing looked right. I also noticed I put the text behind the pattern but I can change that. Any help is appreciated.

Change the opasity of the layer with the fill to make it more see through.

:yeahthat: also, another good effect would be to erase some of that layer, with an eraser set to a grunge brush, on 50 opacity. Then it would give a grunge look
I did have a second part to my tutorial, but I couldn't find it at the time, it basically shows more paterns that can be used, I'll find it and put it in the first post.

Ok, I lowered the opacity and added a border. Check my sig for results. Now that I look at it, you can barely tell that there's even a pattern at all. It looked darker when I made it but I guess I'll go back and change it. Anyways, thanks for the help. :)

Do I set the eraser to a specifc color or what? I was just messing around on the background and it ended up being like 7 layers so if I erase some it will look messed up. I'm still kinda fuzzy on all the steps on how to make an interesting background instead of a bland one like mine.

well if you think they're unnoticable, then raise the opacity....
just play around with the opacity until you find something you like...
