Alright, i need help.
Im downloading a 2gb torrent, so its taking a while, but thats not my problem, my problem is about every hour or so, my comp just randomly restarts. Sometimes its less than a hour, sometimes more, its random. What does this mean?

Any error messages?
This happened to me right after i reformatted my pc.
Something called lsass was shutting down every 5 minutes, so it was a pain getting it off.

No error messeges, it just restarts, no programs close down or anything its like BOOM black screen, then its off for about a second, then it restarts itself.

First check your power settings make sure everything is in order.
You might need a new power supply, they are cheap $20 or so, Thats usually the cause behind random restarts. Especially if you've added any new hardware or are makeing your computer do more than it usually does.
Reformatting should really be a last case scenario guy, Eveyone says reformat because if its any software proble it will be fixed. But im pretty sure this is hardware.

This guy knows what he's talking about. Check your voltages in your bios or through software it came with. (If you have it). Most random reboots stem from a faulty PSU or not having enough juice to power up all your components. Have you installed any new hardware recently?

just so you kno, even with those 3 programs, you might still not get every thnig.
Not only do you need to check your PSU, and software power save settings, but you need to check your surge protector as well. I'd also suggest that you move the computer to another location in the house, that is on a different circuit than the outlet it's using now.
Its either a virus, PSU problem, software problem, or line quality problem. Make sure you check all those options before wiping the drive clean. The only reason to wipe the drive clean, is if you've tested ALL the hardware, and all power components that are connected to your computer.

I just built a new computer and it was doing the same thing. If you are running windows XP you need to go and turn off the automatic reboot on an error. This way it will give you the blue screen of death and tell you what the error is. Then you can diagnosis it a fix it.
Mine was the onboard sound card that was the problem. I disabled it in the bios and put in an audiogy 2 ZS card an no more problems.
To turn of the automatic reboot on errors do the following.
1. Right Click on MY COMPUTER.
2. Click on PROPERTIES.
3. Click on the ADVANCED TAB
4. Click on SETTINGS under STARTUP & RECOVERY
5. Under SYSTEM FAILURE **UNCHECK** Automatically restart.
Now when the error occurs you will get an error message and tell you what driver or what file is causing the problem. Then you can trouble shoot from there.

Could it be that my comp is only like 800mhz and its just crashing because im doing to much at once?
I check all plugs every thing is workin good.

Yeah Thats one of the things i said. Try another powersupply, or open it up and disconnect some of the hardware and see if that solves it, if it does then its definately ur powersupply, It should tell you the outtage on the top, or side. Then canculate with the hardware you are using, make sure your cpu fan and such are working properly as well.

Exactly. Power power power. What brand? How many amps can it push on the 3,5, and 12 volt rails? (look on the label on the side of the PSU.
Is it overheating? Are you doing anything thats intensive out of the norm? What hardware do you have lastly.
Yea,What brand/Wattage is your psu? Also please tell us your full system specs and what your rail voltages are running at. 12v 5v 3.3v etc. With having a 800mz cpu, I know for a fact you dont have a "High End" Videocard that required a Molex Power connector. If you have even a 200 Watt PSU, You should be fine but lets see the rails. You can pick one up for relatively cheap now a days that is much better than the one that came with your psu. On a side note. I just ordered the new PC Power and Cooling TurboCool 850 SSI. Cost me a arm and a leg but whats wrong with 850 Watt PSU(950 watt peak). Gunna power the shit out of the crossfire when it comes out and the new AMD's also.

Im running a Radeon 9250SE
What Wattage is the powersupply? We need more here. Are you running an amd or Intel? Those answers will give me a better Idea.As of right now, that videocard doesnt need more than a No-Name 250 watt psu. I have a feeling you have a 300 or 350.
