Hello Piracy!
Err I mean, YAY! I now have somewhere to store all my Xbox 360 market place Demos.
No seriously, those demos are a gig each.
Bill Gates is an imbusile for choosing HD DVD. What if the market chooses Blu-Ray as the standard? He's f---ed then.

He can afford to be f***ed. He has billions+.
True, but still. It's dumb to take a side in the middle of a figh you coule lose millions, maybe billions on.

Looks like a geek to me. And geeks are smart.

Looks like a gook to me. And geeks are smart.
Did you just use a racial word?
geek isn't racial, as there are no "Race" of geeks.
Were you thinking of Greeks?

Gook:
Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a person of East Asian birth or descent.
Haha, whoops. Spelling error. Sorry if I offended anyone.

And what if Blu-Ray fails and HD DVD becomes the new standard?
EDIT: BTW Cryp, congrats on becoming admin.

Don't kid around. There's no reason to pick HD DVD over Blu Ray.
And thanks :D

Reason? Price. Whichever one is cheaper for the companies to produce and cheaper for the customers to purchase is going to win. You think Soccermoms or 30+ year old people are going to care which holds more GBs? No, they're going to go with which is cheaper.
Sure they will. More GB = Better quality, and less compression. That's what all crazy movie lovers want.

Casual movie watchers greatly outnumber crazy movie lovers. Casual movie watchers want a good deal.
Casual movie lovers are still stuck back in the days of VHS.

You both have valid points but working at Blockbuster has taught me alot of things about movie watchers. Poeple are cheap, we have dozens of people call, come in whatever and ask for VHS movies becuase they don't have DVDs as they are "too expensive". In actuality at this point VHS is more exspensive but the point is people are two things, cheap and stupid. If HD DVD is cheaper, even just to start more poeple will flock to it. I think Blu-Ray will preval in the end but I think it's not going to be so cut and clean like 3ncryption is saying. It'll be a battle, one I'm not looking forward to. :)

i just cant understand people who say they cant afford dvd, a decent dvd player can be bought for as low as £20 and dvds are about expensive as vhs tapes now. i agree ZipCrash some people are so stupid

Na, geeks aren't necessarily smart. They just have such a concentrated interest in a particular subject, or in particular subjects, that they have enough interest to learn a lot about it.
Its like when a dumb jock knows tons of figures for tons of athletes.

Thats true. I think it'll be like the DVD+ and DVD- thing we have today. The developers never quite agreed on one official standard. Thats why we still use both extensively.
