help with a patch

im downloading final fantasy 7 for pc, and i run windows xp, so im going to need the xp patch, which is fine, but because im downloading the game it wont be installed onto my computer, so the patch wont recognize that ff7 is installed, how can i patch the game??

Even if you download a game, you still have to install it. Before you do that, you can't patch anything.
