Well recently, my Xbox has been having lots of problems that Ive been noticing. Mainly just freezing up and such, but also sometimes it makes lots of weird colours appear on the screen as well as freezing. It started off only once in a while, but now it seems to have gotten to be alot more frequent. But just about ten minutes ago, I had the worst problem of all. I tried to turn my Xbox on, but when I did so, instead of loading like normal, nothing appeared on my TV, and a few seconds later my Xbox started flashing red. The red appeared where it shows the number of players. It was in player slot 1, 3, and 4 if that means anything else. I tried unplugging it all and blowing out the plugs and such, thinking it may just be dust interference, but no, it still happens. So I figure my Xbox is totally done, so thats why I came here. I wanted to know if this is easily fixed in any other way? If not, would this be under warranty? I bought the extended warranty and it is still in the time limit. I have never opened my system/tried to flash, or anything else, just played everything legit. So could anyone here help me? Or should I just take it to the store again?

Also, if in the end they had to give me a new Xbox, would I still have my same gamertag? Or would I have to create a new one??

Well thanks for reading, and please help :)

You would have to recover your gamertag. Takes a while but you have the same gamerscore..ect. Your saves will be lost!

It is probably a memory failure like I have gotton before. Take it back and get a new one. Hopefully you bought it at Best Buy and purchased it within a year. They just take your broken one and you just get a new one and leave.

I actually bought it from EB Games, but it is still under warranty. And crap, is there any way to recover any of my saves? And thanks for the help so far man. :)

Nope. The only way is to ask to switch the new Xbox's hard drive with your old one. If it's a memory error, I wouldn't suggest it.

Which can easily be tested by running the 360 without the HDD.

How do you know that it is a problem with the HDD and not the 360?

Try the HDD on another xbox

Sections 1, 3, and 4 are flashing red
- General Hardware Failure

Check the secondary Error Code per the instructions in the section below

THINGS TO TRY
Try restarting the console.
If restarting the console does not resolve the behavior, follow these steps:
Turn the console off.
Unplug all the power and AV cables from the console.
Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
Firmly reconnect all the cables.
Turn on the console.
If these steps do not resolve the behavior, turn the console off, remove the hard drive (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726&st=0#), and then turn on the console. If the 3x Red LED error light is no longer displayed, turn the console off, re-attach the hard drive, and then turn on the console.
Also examine the lights on the power supply. When you turn on the console, the power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the RoL flash red.
Have you tried playing with out the hardrive connected? see if it works..

Well thanks for all the help so far. Ive tried most of the ideas posted. I tried turning it on without the HDD, still same result. I tried disconnecting and then reconnecting all the cords, and still same result. So it must be a problem with the Xbox itself. Any last suggestioms, I will probably take it into the store tommorow.

If you have the warranty just take it back. Dont even think about keeping a 360 that has shown 3 red lights. Just switch the hard drives when you get the new one.

What is the secondary code? you can easily do this while the three lights are flashing, Hold the SYNC button and press the eject button it will flash the lights to tell you the code, do this four time to get a 4 digit number

Number 2

There isn't really a way to recover your saves, but if you happen to buy a used box, that doesn't have the November 06 update you can download saves off the internet and use them as your own. This will only work with pre 11/06 update.

Well I took my Xbox in to get fixed today. At the Eb games I went to, they normally would just give you a different refurbished one and take yours, but today , since there were no refurbished ones, I got a brand new one, with a new mic, controller and HDD. It is a bit of a bummer that I didnt get to keep my saves, but oh well, at least I still get my gamertag.
