Need help with flashing my Xbox 360

Hey guys,

I need some help with with flashing my Xbox 360.

Its a Samsung TS - H943 with firmware ms28

I am using the Xtreme boot maker with a USB Pen Drive.

I have my firmware yada yada.

I boot into DOS mode using the Pen Drive as the boot device.

When I type in:

samread 3133963 63905

(The numbers at the end is my X360 serial number)

It comes up with No Device Found so it doesn't back up the original firmware.

My PC has onboard SATA. Heres some pics:

One end of sata cable plugged into motherboard:

The other end of the SATA cable plugged into the onboard controller:

I unplug the satacable from the motherboard and plug that into the back of my 360 DVD-Drive.

I've been trying to figure it out for well over 6 hours.

Id appreciate as much help as possible!

Ok right I get it detected now.

I've decided to use just mtkflash r/m orig.bin and do the rest manually. Just need to read the tutorial again.

i have a hitachi and you have to get the drive reconsided in windows to do this you to get the drive into mode b using slax cd

its not somthing you should just attempt when viewing a link you must do a good couple of weeks reasearch make sure you have all the corect hardware (sata cards and all that stuff) and properly read a guide


if you dont you may aswel kiss goodbye to your 360

im not going to tell you how you do it until you read up on what can happen and how the procedure works. You also need to see if you have sata on your motherboard and if your chipset works

Haha, awesome. So since Stevie is being lame, could you direct me to a tutorial? I have already had my 360 flashed before but It over heated so I bought a new one and I need to flash agian. Last time someone else did it for me but I want to do it my self this time.

have you checked that your sata chipset actualy works? its very picky on these things

EDIT: thanks to the modified version of mtkflash included with this release you'll be able to dump the drive firmware and flash it easily from a PC with SATA ports (either on motherboard or with an PCI addon-card) booted with a DOS floppy (not sure if it'll work with all SATA chipsets. The Sil3112 chipset apparently doesn't with with mtkflash. It does not work with SATAtoUSB or toFireWire adapters either afaik).

Maybe I should try hex editing mtkflash myself using the mtkflashvia.exe file.

OK well i've given up for now. I've been trying to do this for well over 8 hours now :P

I've figured it must be because my onboard SATA is not compatiable with flashing my 360(or any other 360). Im going to buy a PCI SATA Card which I know is compatiable so I know it will work then :P

Since you have a ms28 you either need to use a pci sata card or you have remove a resistor and solder a switch into place on it

And so you know the Samsung is alot better drive to have, because it has better firmware for it that includes stealth mode and so on...
