What is ping and how do i lower it? i keep gettin kicked from counterstrike cuz its too high

thanks but that doesnt relly tell me how to lower it and im not understanding what ping has to do with counterstrike anymore. they also called it latency. so if any1 knows how to lower those things they will be forever great in my eyes

You...can't lower it. So you shall forever be kicked from CS, lest your high ping distrupt the server.

How are you connecting to the internet? Ping or latency is basically how fast your pc can comunicate with the server's

Obviously if its slow you get a high ping which slows down everyone and is why you get kicked.

It could be as simple as dial up, or an old computer.

Also dont run other programs when you play, especially ones that connect to the internet.

ya its probly cuz i am on wireless internet. it cant be cuz an old computer because i just got a new one like a month ago. alright thanks u guys were so much help

lol i've been kicked out of many games for high ping but usally i just restart the game or exit and comeabck and i'd be fine

It all has do with your internet connecting. There are settings in CS to improve your Ping but it's considered illegal and cheating these days as people with fast internets do it to make it so they have a few seconds up on the other players.

its about 200 and i play cs condition zero would that make a dif?

5Mbps isn't your actual connection. You need to test it somewhere.

alright this is wat i got on my wireless connection. im gonna try to get a cord run in my room so i dont have to be so slow. and navypilot that isnt because what mine says is 54 mbps

Bad upload, but nice download. You must get a program to edit your net settings, like Tweak Powerpack.

open it up and find internet and network optimization.
Set MTU to 1492 on your router, enable large TCP IP connection window, Set HTTP 1.0 and 1.1 slider to the right all the way, save, and restart the computer.

Just tried it again and got 9, I noticed that this router actually speeds up my normal internet connection...
