my wireless router

my computer doesnt know that my router is connected.
Because, i connect my broadband modem to my computer though usb, and therefore, i just connect the router to the modem with an ethernet cable, and it works for my psp! But because its not installed properly, theres no software or anything, this limits me to ever having to change things, will this ever cause problems?
i tried to set it up the proper way but when i connect my modem to my computer through ethernet, it never ever works, it doesnt recognize that the modem is plugged in if i plug it into the ethernet port, thats why i use usb.

Just go out and buy an ethernet cable for $3 and hook up your computer. Problem solved.

if you read my post, i said that i can connect it to the computer via ethernet, but it doesnt work, the computer doesnt even know its connected, thats why i use usb....

See if the computer sees the router with the ethernet cable
