Pretty neat to know where Sony stands with the PSP. It seems like the PSP has gotten way more popularity over these past months with more and more games coming out.

Seeing how Nintendo is using stats from a system that existed before the PSP it appears they are trying to crunch every number managable to feel they are still on top. But by years end Sony will own the top spot in my opinion.

Nintendo is slowly losing its grip, well what I hate is people comparing PSP's to the DS, before the release of the DS, Nintendo said that the DS was a side project not ment to compete with the what was gonna be the Sony PSP, but Nintend osaid the Gameboy Evolution handheld will compete with PSP sales, which is expected to be released with the REvolution

PS: Evolutio = Handheld; Revolution = console

Nintendo is slowly losing its grip, just like the pilot said, I highly doubt that Nintendo will last much longer, as its competing with probaly the biggest 2 companies in the electronic industry.

you have to realise one thing
THE DS IS NO WAY AS GOOD AS THE PSP AND IS LOTS CHEEPER and thats what parents look for! Case in point my aunts, last christmas they were going to get a psp for their sons, but because it was so expensive they got the mutch mutch cheeper ds, that is the ONLY reason the ds is up in sales so much, i mean i play the thing and its boring as hell, it isn't fun, most the games on it blow, its hardly playabal to gamers, much less little kids who are forced to get it cause its cheeper, it was jujst a bad choice on nintendo's part.....

Nintendo not last much longer? Seeing how Nintendo is the alltime leading videogame manufacturing company in the world I highly doubt they will ever dissappear. As long as Nintendo has Mario and Zelda the company will never die. You watch how many Game Cubes sell when Twilight Princess releases. I strongly believe Nintendo will make a great comback. Hell the game cube is the only system Nintendo has come out with that wasnt #1. (except the DS of course)

Nintendo will never lose its grip on the handheld front. Nintendo has ruled the handhelds for many many years, and i'm pretty sure it will always be at the front. Dunno about the consoles though.... i rekon Sony have always had consoles in the bag, but yer, if we're talking handhelds, Nintendo will almost always be out there in front. They are the masters of the handheld world...

PSP's outsold DS in the North American

But, many economists (I read the Wall St Journal) expect the revo and evo to be the last systems to be released by Nintendo, I'll find the article and post it :)

that's definatly not gonna happen. Nintendo have it too good to quit now...why would they do it??

Look at the figures. Nintendo is clearly ahead. DS + GBA. Both of the systems are handheld systems. They are both selling extremely well, and even better outside of the US. The PSP can't compete with those numbers. Is the PSP better in terms of hardware, and multimedia ? Hell yes. Does the GBA + DS combo sell more systems ? Yes. Who makes money off their system sales ? Nintendo or Sony ? It's easy to see the winner in terms of success and market share.

Now add in the DS Lite coming out soon... more systems that will be selling like hotcakes. A + B + C > Sony PSP.

Yeah the new Gameboy Micro sold fairly well for a while

Yes but if A + B + C > PSP is A + B + C + ?> PSP + Slim PSP

simple algebra

if ( A + B + C != PSP)
{
THen Nintedo Make Money;
}
else
{
Sony Makes Money;
}

All depends on future market and nintendo keeps releasing 800 diffrent versions but with differnet sizes

Wth are you talking about ?

A = GBA
B = DS
C = DS Lite

It was sarcasm. Might wanna rethink your career goals.

It's called the market. The handheld market consists of all the handheld systems. That's why Nintendo is dominating the handheld market, because of all three, now four with the micro, systems. You can't ignore the others because they arent the same "gen" as the PSP.

Hockeyguy219

And just because it isnt fair, doesnt mean they dont make money off it..

I'd like to remind people on here,

The PSP has sold 8million units. (Sony)

The DS has sold 14.5million units (Nintendo)

The GBA has sold 60million units. (Nintendo)

psp $250

ds bundle, meaning games and stuff, goes for 140 dollars

and the gba is null-void because it went years without any competition

You'll find that as long as the GBA is still being sold then it still stands as market leader by a mile and foot and since Nintendo and third parties are still contributing to it, it has to be included as it is still holding a large % of the market.

as the GBA is still selling well, it is a valid part of the handheld market and of course has a huge share

im including this franchise chart, from this link http://www.kotaku.com/ below

well if your going to compare them all start at the time the psp comes out and see how many gba's where sold
to compare gba's total multi year run to ds and psp's less than a year run is unfair

that's like saying you cant compare the sales figures of ps2 against that of the xbox because the xbox was released years later

question:

lol, hmm, system addicting, its really games you have to go with, both the nintendo and ps2 where good depending on what games you where playing, but i spent most my time on my ps2, my x-box was very unused

and for handheld i have to say the original gb was the most addicting
