So yea the power supply fans in my alienware have failed me. Both of them (one on the bottom and on the back) have both stoped working causing my comp to overheat and crash. Anyone know if i can replace these fans? Or should i buy a whole new power supply?

- i also cant call tech support because i didnt pay for it :?

Alienware and u dont know how to replace a fan?

.....=/

Sorry yes im an asshole, anyways Yes you can replace it, be sure to unplug it first, might be easier to work with if you take the whole power supply out, usually like 4 screws on the bottom and 2 on top.

Fans are about $1-$2, you will have to cut the old one out and splice the new one in. Only 2 wires tho, its cake.

If not you can pick up a new PS fairly cheap. GL.

Don't just buy any cheap fan. If you want fans that will last forever get Vantec.

Well i was concerned about opening the PS because of the capacitors. I was told that they can still hold a charge even though its unplugged. Just dont want to get electrocuted.

unplug it, then attempt to turn on pc that should release any charge.
the fan is just connected by 2 wires so you should be safe.

If you arent still under warranty, just purchase a new power supply. Be done with it. Get an ePower/Tagan.

ePower/Tagan (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=2010320058+50008056&Subcategory=58&description=&srchInDesc=&minPrice=&maxPrice=&ATTR1=&ATTR2=2010320058+50008056&ATTR3=&ATTR4=&ATTR5=&ATTR6=&ATTR7=&ATTR8=&ATTR9=&ATTR10=) at newegg.com.
