Reccomend Computer with good processors with at least 1mb cache, no celeron $h*t, at least 512 Ram, 80GB, Good Video CArd too

Also, become A+ Certified, it will raised your chances of becoming a technician, and give you a better understanding of computers

To be quite honest with you, you probably don't need that job. If you are asking for advice here, what kind of help are you going to be to your customers ? Sure, I could tell you a lot of different configs for computers. From the bottom line, basic PC, to a top of the line workhorse. What good will that do you when someone asks if something is compatible with the computer you are suggesting ? Where are you going to be working ? I'd start with familiarizing yourself with the products they already sale. Get to know what configurations your store sales, and the target use for each product.

Yah, if you wan't to be a successful salesman and be able to help others, you shouldn't be asking us for help. If you are serious about this, you need to get A+ Certified.

Most people dont know what theyre doing if theyre asking a sales person for help anyways, A person who knows about computers will walk in, and tell you to go fetch them a specific model, everyone else you can just milk for money.

The best advice if you are going to be selling them, DON'T LIE! Hate when salesmen think that I don't know anything about computers when they actually don't. Of course the last time I went looking at a store I was 14 and the jackass thought he could rip me off, too bad he didn't know that I had a CCNA certification at the time. So I just had the manager come out and told him he had an incompetent employee and told him all the lies he was spouting off to me and from that point on I've built my own. Be honest with people, don't try to sell the most expensive thing and always recommend AMD over Intel. If you work on commission you might not make as much, of course you won't be ripping people off either.

Are you seriously saying that you've gotten a job selling PC's and have to ask us for help? Maybe you should consider a different line of work.

4real......basically he just has oto convince people into buying pc's.My advice don't be one of those annoying sale people. That follow you around the store and ask if you need help like you can't just go to a store and look around.
