can anyone think of a solution to my problem?

i recently formatted my HDD due to sluggish performance and missing GBs of space. as it's a shared pc i set up multiple users accounts, id done it before with no problems. this time however microsoft photo editor only works in one of the accounts whereas the others display this error message

i firstly went to the Folder Options in the control panel but everything i tried was unsuccessful
i then decided it may have been something i uploaded from some data CDs i had created so i deleted everything in one of the accounts but again no luck
the last thing i tried was making a new account from the working one, but no luck their either

can anyone think of any solutions? the only half decent photo editor i have is photoimpression 4. Paint, Imaging, PictureViewer and Image Preview are all useless. if nobody has any ideas of how to fix it can you recommend a good free picture editor, similar to microsoft photo editor

Gimp is like photoshop but free.

Anyways to fix your problem try, right clicking on the file go to properties in General tab go to the part where it says "Opens with" Click the Change button to the right and select the program.

Right clicking and selecting "open with" then "choose program from list" should work too, if its not ton the list browse for it where it installed, Also make sure the small box on the bottom that says always open with this program is checked.

i tried the "open with" method before and it didnt work

EDIT: gimp is way too slow loading on my PC, even very small pics take ages. thanks anyway

yeah no luck there either

i cant get it to work but i found a free picture viewer that works in the same kind of way

If u comp is so slow may i sugest a downgrade to windows 2000 or even 98 that might speed things up a bit and i may fix the prob

my computer is getting on a bit but the recent formatting made it a lot faster
