Battlefield:2142

Synopsis

Battlefield 2142 is the latest game in the Battlefield series, following on from the famed Battlefield 2. In this game, you are in the year 2142, during the next ice age. Most of the world is covered in ice, and the EU and Asian PAK forces are fighting against each other to take control of the remaining land.

Graphics

Although 2142 takes up more than its fair share of resources, graphics card permitting, it looks gorgeous, the weapons especially look amazing. I was very impressed by the muzzle flashes and special effects, explosions etc. even in the background, they looked really good, and my PC handled multiple explosions and special effects very well.

Sound

Whilst the sound doesnt play a huge role in this game, it is pretty good. The radio comms between players is top notch quality, and the clarity of the weapons sounds and special effects sounds is stunning. I was suprised how loud it can get when your fighting lots of people all at once, and the blend of distance and volume was superb.

Replay Value

As this game is centered around online multiplayer play, the replay value of this game is very high, it is addictive, and you can play for hours, as each time you play against different people with different kit packs, your experience becomes new, and somewhat fresh. Its only when you have completed all the ranks, and gained all the medals and ribbons that this game gets slightly boring.. but from start to finish thats a good 200 hours.

Value

Although at launch it retailed over here at around £35-£39, It has come down to around £20-£25, which its very good value for the amount of hours you will get out of it alone. I payed £34.99 and it was well worth it.
