Failure Rate: Xbox 360 High As 33% - Sony PS3 & Nintendo Wii Less Than 1%

Retailers estimate that one in every three Microsoft Xbox 360’s sold fails leaving frustrated owners staring at the red ring of death, or worst a black screen that reads “disc unreadable”.

Gaming section?
First faulty problem I had was memory failure. However I would pick the more enjoyable console than the most reliable. Not playing it is as bad as a broken machine. ;)

This is getting ridiculous. None of these "claims" of the percentage of faulty 360's have any basis other than returned units. The articles don't say whether they were dropped, DOA, user error, etc. We have had at least two discussions on this already. There isn't anything that has been proven that the console itself is failing at an alarming rate.

Goodness.

and this was in the wrong section. >:

Even so then that would be the same for the PS3 and Wii. You trying to say that people that drop their PS3 and Wii's have a much better chance of it not breaking? I believe the stats are very correct and are mostly the cause of the system overheating. Now there are rumors of Forza2 killing systems. Didnt Quake 4 cause major problems for a while? The stats dont lie whether its overheating, DOA, User Error or whatever. That doesnt change the 33% compared to the other 2 systems 1%.

Trust me, I love my 360. I hate the Wii, and the PS3 is too pretty not to love. I have personally seen so many of my friends at EB Games and regular friends go through multiple Xbox 360 systems at no fault of their own. I have modded everybody's 360 at EB Games because they were sick of their systems crashing. Plus when the 360 first launched the failure rate was 35%. Its not like it just started happening out of the blue.

And even so, if youre really careful with it, and know what youre doing, some of them are household fixes (Overheating, drive issues etc), which you should do out of the box, especially if you think these types of statistics are real. Yes Yes, dont start flaming me yet, I know about the damn warranty. If youre too scared to take it apart, let it break, and use the damn thing.

I was a 360 victim but I agree w/ Hybrid. I would rather have the system that I liked the most (and proper warranties of course!) than the one that is most reliable. I do hate the fact that this is the first system that i've felt like I had to have a warranty on.

I enjoy the 360, i rather have 10 of them to 1 ps3 honestly because i enjoy it, but the thing about the warrenty is ehh w/e lol

The 360 just needs a proper cooling update or more of a renivation..lol

That is a statement I can stand behind, and believe. I will not, however, believe random news articles with anonymous managers and staff.

360's have their problems, this is true. I don't see why they don't just come out and say "This unit may overheat/fail due to inadequate cooling. To prevent failure, only use for short periods of time, or find an alternate cooling method", or something of the sort. Or even modding it so you can attach a PC fan easily. Just SOMETHING other than the nothing they're currently doing.
