Trade it in for a Elite and pay the difference.

I have it on a rack above my DVD player and next to my Wii

and I don't need an elite and don't like the black color, nor have the money to pay the difference

Do you play the hell out of it? Like playing 4 hours+/8 hours+ straight?

I used to but I've only played it like twice since I got it back because I've been really busy and those two times it was just for like an hour or two, tops.

It if breaks again I'll demand a new one, but at least I can play counter strike and battlefield while I'm waiting for it.
If you really want a new one file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and you will get it taken care of right away. I had to do that with one the was lost in the mail from ms and I ended up getting a new one out of it.

I'm not so mad that it broke, just that it broke immediately after I got it repaired. But yeah if it breaks again I'm complaining like hell

I'd be VERY mad right now. I would already be complaining. Basically, when I made this thread, I'd also be putting, that I had already talked with Microsoft, and they are going to send me a brand new console.
damn i fell sorry for you man, but i guess thats just the 360 for ya.

Eh I don't really like the way it looks with stickers on it, but hey I just ordered the VGA cable for 360 so when it gets back I'll be playing in HD on my new monitor.

Ive been reading about loads of people having problems with there 360's quite a lot lately and its really bad and it pisses me right off. You pay like 280 pounds for the console and it goes and breaks just like that, they need to sort this problem out permenently.
My friend has had like 3 Xbox 360's since he got his about 8 months ago, I felt well sorry when the first one broke but not the second and third, this parents went mad and his mum had a hell of a go at the Xbox guy from there customer service centre down the phone, it was so funny.

Its weird mines never even looked like braking the worst mines had is alot of unreadable discs but its fine. All of them get hot but not hot enough to overheat but im just judging by the 4/5 ive used.

This is why you cannot leave the system stock. Screw the warranty. I have had mine since April 06 and have never had a single problem. Why? Because a week after I realized that the heat was way too much I decided to mod my first system. This is what needs to be done to not have any problems.
Remove tin cover from inside the case
Replace stock fans with Whisper or adjustable speed fans
Make sure the onboard ram has thermal pads on them. (1st edition 360s did not have these)
Not necessary but helps. Remove cpu and gpu CAREFULLY and replace cheap paste with AS5. (You risk not applying enough or too much paste, you also risk under and over tightening the screws for the heatsinks.)
I have also done a really nice case mode where I installed a 120mm blue led fan in the top of the case that blows the heat up directly out of the case. This does not affect the airflow because of the plastic vent.

Thats what Im going to do, remove tin cover from inside and put a clear case on it.

Just got a second 360 that was broke
Those thermal pads on the ram are useless! i removed them applied some new paste did away with x clamps and just used some bolts and washers and it works perfect now

I got the fans that plug into the back. Shouldn't that be enough? Has somebody written a "How to" on these mods?

Do you mean the Nyko 360 Intercooler?

Yeah. It seems to work fine, its just really loud.

Man, you need to remove those ASAP! They will cause permanant damage. Return it, get your money back. It uses power needed to run the console. It stresses the fans by creating a vortex around it.

I must be lucky, I have had my xbox 360 for like 10 months, Ive never had one problem with it. . . It collects dust really bad though.

My 360 has never froze or given me any problems (*knocks on wood*) since I put the intercooler on it. I've heard so many people say stuff w/o reference.

My room is always cold, and my 360 is on top of a 3ft tall shelf with nothing really around it, so it has ALOT of room to breathe, it is like 6 inches from the wall in the back. It does get pretty warm, and is kinda loud. I am going to exchange it in a months for an elite when they put the better chip in, thats if they actually do, if not, I am just goint to get a new prem. system.

First of all, I hate PS3, not 360. I just can't afford one at the moment.
Second of all, why doesn't the Wii get these problems? It's more powerful than the last gen consoles, yet it's the smallest console with the basic release to date... I've not heard of it overheating yet, and the little thing doesn't even get that warm, WITH WiiConnect24.
It's not even loud apart from when it's checking disks.. and that doesn't happen that often.
I'm not bashing the 360, I like it, but why doesn't the Wii do this? [Well, I don't think Nintendo has ever made a console that you couldn't drag behind your vehicle for a mile, get hit by a semi and stomped on by Godzilla and still work...]

Because it has less complex hardware, and they took more time.

Okay well I just called Microsoft, they said I should receive my xbox on Friday the 18th, so I'll be able to use the beta yay! And Keno, the reason the Wii hasn't had any problems is because Nintendo is amazing with their quality of build, they cut no corners in the production of their products, they're bulletproof so to speak. A prototype famicom would probably be more stable than a 360.

It's not worth it when you have a 360, many people will tell you, it gets boring, fast.
